The general population doesn’t give a shit about the fetish/kinky scene, I’ve literally never heard of a protest outside a kinky club/party.
There are protests outside 50 shades because its a story about rape/and abuse.

You’ll also find that ‘feminists’ (at least the groups I know in Brighton) are very accepting of alternative sexualities. (when/if you go to Brighton pride festival, you will find several BDSM stalls.)
