So what’s everyone from Devon up to this bank holiday weekend? Is everyone going to Rinseout in Exeter or will there be anything else going on like parties in the woods? It’s not often we get four days off in a row!
Well thanks a lot guys!
Luckily I found it myself 😎

Sometimes its best to let the other side have their “good news”. For obvious reasons to do with logistics, the layout of these events and that currently cops in SW England aren’t as harsh as other regions, the cops may or may not have stopped all of a multi rig party. but there are already wider complaints about mess being left behind, the very fact people did this without permission, concerns about safety to wildlife etc…
OK the last lot of revellers do usually pick up the bottles and cans etc but understandably they aren’t going to pick up other peoples shit and that is what Forestry and Defra get angry about for multi day parties. its not as bad for one lasting one night.
The remaining travellers usually bury theirs or have toilet facilities within their vehicles as they actually live there and don’t want to contaminate their home ground but hedonistic ravers have no such qualms. Someone still has to clear it up though :yakk:
There was a lot of mess Sunday morning. We couldn’t get near the site by car because of the police roadblocks so had to walk over a mile across some farms to get there. I think that’s half of the problem. People aren’t going to carry their rubbish back to their car unless they were parked at the site. There was a lot of rain too and all those people and cars turned the tracks into a mud bath. During multi-day events it is always the last few who are left responsible for clearing up the mess.
I can understand why the Forestry Commission are pissed off that their secured gates were vandalised. The same must happen at Fernworthy as those access gates are always secure.
Interesting what the news reports say;
Illegal ‘rave’ on Dartmoor (From This is The West Country)
Supt Mayhew added: “Whilst we are keen to support local communities, there is a safety consideration. This event is illegal as there are not the appropriate facilities in place for this number of people, and the environment is not suitable for a party. This means that those who do attend are at risk of injury and may not appreciate the position they are placing themselves”.
BBC News – Clear-up starts at Dartmoor rave site
Supt Glen Mayhew, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said the event caused “considerable concern and nuisance to our communities”.
He said: “As well as the impact on local residents and damage to environment, they pose a risk to those attending due to the environment.
“People are vulnerable as they are not equipped for the weather and conditions on Dartmoor.”
This just sums up the nanny state we now live in. They make it sound like the event was held in the middle of the Siberian Wilderness. I think the conifer forests are quite a good place to hold a party. The moss covered trees are actually quite forgiving to the body when you fall over.
BBC News – Waste and rubble found at Dartmoor rave site
Apparently a sofa was left behind. There’s no excuse for that and those morons responsible should be ashamed of themselves. Dartmoor is a special place and enjoyed by lots of different groups of people and it should be left in the same state as one finds it in for the enjoyment of everyone.

You should be able to PM now, you just needed 10 posts.
yeah PM us the full one mate, I’ve got the right numbers for what you put up there.
I fackin knew that sofa would still be there, it was brought as furniture not just fly tipping, but yeah I couldn’t see anyone dragging a soaking wet sofa home with them.
to be honest the waste from this one was probably worse than your average, even proportionately, I dunno what it was about that party but it had like a really grotty vibe from the start, I thought it was just me but quite a few of my mates have mentioned it since.
Oh, and Supt. Glen Mayhew can suck his own ignorant arsehole:
“This is an event which appears to be formally organised by a company for monetary gain”

strange, cops here are smarter than that. they have sussed out that the last lot of youths were clearly getting enough cash to repeatedly replace confiscated rigs by some means and that could well have been K dealing. However they openly say if anything they’d far rather that folk actually did set up a company, get a licensed space and do things all above board like ID&T in the Netherlands. This would of course mean its harder to launder drugs money for party organisation which is precisely why the Dutch encourage this approach.
Thing is it’s really not like that down here, I know people on a few of the rigs and they aren’t dealing drugs to pay for kit, or at least not as an organized thing, a couple of them might have it as their primary source of income but it’s not like the crew all go out dealing and pool the money to buy bass bins, and obviously not organized by a company either.
I dunno what to make of it really, the cynical side of me says that he’s got some angle that I just haven’t picked up on yet, and the other side of me knows that the police in Devon are aaa lliiiiiddddlllllle ssllloooowwww.

I think they are just slow TBH, but compared to EA that area is “slow” even though its also coastal, as its got less active seaports and other things what make the East Coast a lot busier… The SW, West and Wales are nice areas (I nearly went West instead of East and was learning Welsh instead of Dutch) but there’s also less work there especially in my field.
There’s less work in everyone’s field, unless your field is actually in a field

if we actually had a proper nanny state the wider populace would be allowing events like Distortion festival and not whinging about any taxes paid for them because they were getting the money back twice over or more from the taxes on drink sales, licenses etc and they realised it would be safer for young people to party in this supervised area than drive hundreds of miles out into the sticks.
Until cheaper flights from Asia became available rich English families actually got nannies from Scandinavian countries like Denmark and Norway as they had a reputation for hard work and family values that Asia has today. They were often pretty young girls, and predictably some ended up having affairs with the husbands of the rich families or getting pregnant by their sons/the milkman etc”. (This was a common plot line in comedy shows around that era).
Sadly today Northern European countries are criticised today for having “high taxes and not being easy to do business in” but it seems like folk genuinely get decent public services for their taxes..
