What is even worse if the Suffolk couple “met on the internet”, they clearly had at their fingertips all the resources to get help. It took me three clicks from the Google start page to get the emergency number for Social Services.
Further investigation shows the Norfolk baby was killed by a lad who wasn’t the baby’s father, and there was a nasty racial element and possibly the baby being used as a way fo getting back at her real father who clearly didn’t treat the girl well (or she wouldn’t have been in a womens refuge!)

Also the girl was now pregnant by the second bloke. Now this is animal behaviour (males do try in some species to eliminate competition in this manner including killing other males offpsring) and was a problem in ancient times but is not acceptable in modern humans..
However this area traditionally has many young parents whom despite hardship do the best they can for their children and this started happening in my generation (the “summer of love/early rave scene” produced a lot of unplanned pregnancies!)
Also I expect people will blame the social workers when the harsh reality is they are often overloaded with many similar cases but can’t exactly put 24/7 surveillance on certain couples..
and however rubbish sex education is, its way easier to get accurate info on it than even in my day and I grew up as things became more liberal in this country..
Looks like babies/children are now the next “throwaway commodity..”
