I’ve never been to Glastonbury and never will go, I refuse to spend over a certain amount just on a weekend out especially not to put money into the pockets of cops, highly paid rock stars and the media….

those festivals got locked down and commerciallised way back when Garry Denke was a young idealistic student (and a bit saner than today?) rather than a oil company executive….

never liked festivals (or even multi day raves) that much anyway, I like the comforts modern science and technology has brought a human too much to want to stay in a fucking 21st century shanty town for 3 days….

ohh i dont know i think that’s a bit of a tainted view, i would allways advise anyone who hasent been to glastonbury to go, its an awsome sight, and the energy is contagious i think its something that every human should experiance, i agree completely with the overpayed cops mean fiddler bull shite, its horrendus and i spose bleakly quite expected that what was designed as a celebration of life arts culture et is raped by profit making companies,

i love festival teks and 3 day mega raves! i like the 3 day shanty town! i love the fact that a massive site can be self sufficant for any nos of days, with allways the same money passing from person to person, the trade of skills & wares between individuals, the fact that theres not an office a sainsburys tesco or call centre in sight! and just many like minded people looking out for eachother, joining in the festivities and generaly having fun in!

    feeling jolly then GL? :laugh_at:

once you add up the amount of nights you camp, and the acts you get to see, its not a huge amount of money (not saying its cheap)

a lot of money goes to charity too lets not forget, and police presence has never seemed too ott for me.

and personally… i love the shanty town feeling … last year we went campervanning straight after. didnt shower for 7 nights

yeah if you were to pay for each of the acts individualy it would a) cost the sky! B) quite hard to aqctually get tickets in the 1st place!

the amount of live acts ive seen at glastonbury is mega!3 of the best:

    jimmy cliff
    moby
    rem
theres too many to go on to be honest!

and i just wouldnt buy tickets to see them but they have changed my outlook after seeing them live, for wich i thank glastionbury for

All the multi day raves I’ve seen in recent times look like lord of the flies by Monday unless people take enough ketamine to block out the bad things… which is what I saw a lot of people doing..

I don’t care if the money from Glastonbury goes to charity, its still too much (if I wish to donate to a charity I will do so as a individual), and its become a commercialised media fest…

ohh i dont know uk tek in wales restored my faith i think that was pretty much the only 3 dayer weve had in the uk for long time?? certanly the only one weve attended/knew about, was a beautifull site, we left it spotless aswell, there was a good mix of peoples even some forighn tourists the rig had some nice decor, good range of music and a busy crowd all weekend, cars parked sensibly etc things are never perfect but that party was the best weve seen in the uk for a long while and by my estimations the only one thats lasted 3 days in at least a year, no argy bargy,

what wasthe last 3 dayer you went to?

Wentwood in 2007, also in Wales (the one what got busted by both heddlu and english cops and everyones stack got took). My main memory of that was some daft sket shouting “there are too many foreigners at this rave!”, this made me more angry because all them French dudes lost loads of kit when it all kicked off, and all the thanks they get for it is racist abuse…

I didn’t even see much of the “riot” so that didn’t worry me as such, but it wasn’t as friendly as I remember raves to be just 3-4 years previously, everyone was balkanised into their various camps, i.e Wales/West, SE England, Norfolk etc….

Also I live eastside now (not in Reading where Wales or Bristol was just down he M4!) – and for various reasons I’m trying to be more eco friendly and low impact in my life. I can’t justify to myself blagging a lift to the other side of the country merely for a weekend of hedonism (which is all I find raves to be) when I can do the exact same in East Anglia….

plus though it may sound harsh I think people round here got “the scene they deserve”, they were given fuckloads of chances with both free parties and even Eastern Haze etc but fucked it all up.

All people have left here are a few legel venues in Suffolk / Norfolk and they have to make the most of them or put some proper work into having an event rather than just rinse the same areas…

wentwood! mwhahaha! dont talk to me about that! we lost the fooking lot for about a year!
since that day weve spawned a night called system feedback, wich has had phonemanal succsess in bristol soo every cloud!
fair enough where you based has a lot to do with what you can/cant do, dont let that nightmare weekend taint your view on a scene by the sounds of it you loved!

hope to see you on z dancefloor one day!

it wasn’t just one nightmare weekend though, I’d been noticing things going to shit slowly since 2005 all the way from the Ridgeway to London (it was one reason I walked away from Reading and the party scene, and decided to concentrate more on my normal life and the rat race!

you are unlikely to see me on any dancefloor unless its in East Anglia (unless you’ve seen me before which is possible!), whilst I still do enjoy music events a bit its no longer a major part of my life like it once was so I don’t put a lot of effort into getting to them…
