  • no I’m not! If I weas preaching I’d have a big huuuge post with quotes from Scripture…..

The others keep wanting the ‘debate’ to go on – and they say I’m weak when I want to stop.

I replied that I am willing to discuss it if we can do so calmly.

Religion, like politics, is not a calm topic.

What is wrong about wanting to discuss something without being hateful????

I dont think I have actually commented on many of the threads you have posted in, I have read them tho….

Fair enough you are Christian and you appear to have strong beliefs, but the way you convey this to us all on partyvibe reminds me of them nut cases you sometime see in town centers standing on top of a box shouting out verses from the bible ramming their beliefs down peoples throats.

I am related to some proper happy clappy christians and the church they went to used to have signs outside saying not to watch “Buffy the vampire slayer” as it is evil, others saying that we did not evolve from chimps things like that. I can’t believe that they can still say things like that nowadays…

Religion was invented to give people a set of rules to live by and to try and control people… my sig below says it all I feel….

Lord, help me to put on the whole armor You have provided for me so that I can stand strong against the enemy. Help me to be strong in Your Word and in obedience to Your ways. Help me to be steadfast in faith so that I won’t waver in the face of ominous circumstances. Help me to be mighty in praise and worship of You, of who You are and all that You do. Help me to be strong in Your power.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11

“… God is strong, and He wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” Ephesians 6:10-18 The Message)

Lord, when I feel weak I turn to You, for You are my strength. When I am at my weakest, You give me a song in my heart. It’s a song of praise to You that I can sing whenever fear threatens to overtake me. Because You have saved me and rescued me from a life of wandering and death, I can now depend on You for guidance, deliverance, healing, and strength. Help me to remember that You are my stronghold in the time of trouble and the rock on which I stand every day.

The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly. Psalm 118:14-15

Thank You, Lord, that in my weakness You are strong. Please perfect Your strength and power in me. In the areas where I feel weakest, I pray that Your strength will be revealed in me as a force to be acknowledged. I know that the things You have called me to do, even in the daily requirements of my life, are things I cannot do without You. Stengthen me to run the race every day with high hopes of great victory.

He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness..” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ mat rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Lord, I come to You right now to draw on Your strength and power. I ask You to be with me to strengthen me in all areas where I feel weak. I pray that You will help me to stand strong, no matter what comes against me. Save me from the things that would try to destroy me. Your power is far greater than that which I fear could crush me. Thank You that because I draw close to You constantly, You are always near me to be my strength.

You, O Lord, do not be far from me; O my strength, hasten to help me! Psalm 22:19

you can stop the debate at any time – by not responding and walking away from here, or simply discussing other subjects.

in another thread you mention your own mental health issues, including depression and OCD. Continuing to argue your point on here amidst so much opposition is not even going to be good for your own health…

    ok – i will stop

And those were simply prayers to HELP and ENCOURAGE… not to start a big war!!!!!! Do they say anything about going to hell??? I was simply trying to ENCOURAGE peeps who might need and welcome it – I figured everyone else would just ignore me!

in England and Scotland, Wales, and particularly Northern Ireland, people are extremely wary about religious “encouragement” due to hundreds of years of various religious wars, some of which are ongoing.

it is hard to just “ignore” multiple postings of Bible chapters/verses on a forum where these aren’t commonplace content. You aren’t the only person on here who has had some sort of religious upbringing.

in 21st century Britain, If individuals wish to find faith, it is their individual choice. I’m sure if they are moved toward prayer they can find many more resources (including entire bibles you can download to your mobile phone or other portable device) on the internet..

Come now, of course people aren’t going to ignore you; ESPECIALLY on the internet, the home of the trolls and flamers.
Anonymity brings out opinions from people of which they might keep it to themselves if face-to-face.

The only people it’s going to encourage is the people who believe in your religion, the only other reason is attempts of conversion.
If people want to learn about your religion or any others then the internet is there just waiting to give them the information.

Ok well I simply did what I felt was best – the intent was good pls believe that. I saw a ‘religion’ forum and didn’t realize that it was mostly anti-religion…….

I believe the “Spirituality, Morality and Religion” room is about discussion of said name, not about random topics where the first post is just passages of the bible. Such a topic is seen as “internet preaching” (Don’t know if such a term exists, if not, I just made it up. Woo! I’m an inventor of phrases!!”), and not particularly welcomed by many, if not all, members of this forum; as you have experienced.

Another mistakes was to support the belief that Gays/Lesbians(/Transexuals?) go to Hell, and such topics of similar extremeness are just as repulsed by again many, if not all, members of this forum.

I, personally, accept you didn’t mean to do anything wrong, or hurt anyone emotionally. However you have gotten a bit out of hand with some extremely emotional topics, that was bound to get angry replies.

(Just to cover my back incase of any backlash towards myself, the opinion I just held is my own and not of any of the other forum members.. plus I’m a touch mashed and a wee bit more careful of my actions during this phase of my “medication”.)

(I don’t know why, but my whole post sounded to me like it was being narrated by a person with a BBC news accent.)

lol having a wine cooler at the moment…..

Actually I was using my daily devotionals, not just picking random Scriptures…..stuff that’s supposed to encourage. As for homosexuals going to hell……I wasn’t the originator of the phrase REPENT OR PERISH. That would be GOD. I’ll just leave it at that.

I honestly had no idea how horrible org. religion was in the UK – what some do in the name of the Lord is just plain WRONG. It will all be sorted out someday tho….. 😉

Looking forward to seeing the Queen + Paul Rodgers concert movie tonight!

I was under the impression that most of jesus’s teachings where about love, if that is the case then why would homosexuals be punished for acting out on one of jesus’s main agenda’s.

Dont forget amy god didnt write the bible, it was writen buy man to control the population in the dark ages. it is all fear based propaganda that was writen to keep the layman under control, end de-empower women. im sure if god and jesus where walking the earth now they would be horrified at the way there teachings have been twisted and manipulated.

You say you now off to watch queen – is that a sin in the church’s eyes as you are gaining pleasure from watching a homosexual entertain you?
