argh – not going to get into the whole saving thing again…….
I loved to party! Part of me still does, but I try to keep it under control now is all…..
My whole point was only that too much partying CAN – not necessarily WILL – lead to addiction. It was just a WARNING…. just be careful.
Never went to an actual ‘rave’ – just some parties w drugs and booze…LOTS of drugs n booze!
That’s funny – I thought this thread was “Aren’t there some tough questions that Christianity has no satisfactory answer to?”, not partying too hard can be bad for you.
That was like a million yrs ago…lol b4 it dissolved into other things……:yakk:
Jesus… History’s most notable stoner raaa
Got Christ?
lol – Dogma – wrong, but funny! :laugh_at:
Fundamental Christians for the most part are MENTAL:you_crazy:you_crazy:you_crazy to me.
Around the age of 12 my dad went to this fundamental Baptist Church and it was the worst five years of my life. I also went to a Christian school at this time(8th grade to 11thgrade). Now there is nothing wrong with having morals I’m all for that but these people don’t think for themselves. Its sad. They do whatever the preacher says ( because that what he THINKS the bible is saying). I’ve seen friendships destoryed between couples, siblings parent and child. You can make the bible say whatever you want…i’ve seen it done. The sad thing is there are good people who go to these chruches who are just little robots for that church ( the preacher). They give 10 % of their money to this preacher and his family and ususally more then that. My dad use to give the church he went to over $300 a month when he had three childeren to attend to. What the hell is that!?! They put the preacher as God and that the preachers will is God’s will. I’ve never been so turned off by Church and Religion, my dad now looks down on me and preaches to me all the time. Fundamental Christian are some of the most hypocrital people I know.
Of course I dont go around killing people and what not but I have my own morals and standards that I live up to for ME, by ME.
I am sorry alll that happened….. there is a reason for tithing, and it’s NOT to line the preacher’s pockets! It is a sad situation that many in fact DO abuse this…. 😥 And I get where you are coming from about the preacher playing God and the congregation looking up to him – I know people who have been in churches where the preacher abused his position of power to rule over the people’s lives…. a sad thing and very WRONG.
I’m sure your dad wants the best for you but is just going about it the wrong way….it seems best to him, just like my initial posts did to me…just not what you want to hear. I know for years my grandmother was like that, trying to get me to ‘mend the error of my ways’ – I called her a crazy bitch! I am soooooo horribly sorry for it now……
So what is the reason for “tithing”? I’m confused – if it’s not something designed to fill the church’s coffers (ie line the preachers pockets) then why ask for it at all (isn’t it the christian faith that believes money is the root of all evil, or am I confused and those wise words come from another religion?)
Back to that old chestnut about the road to hell and it’s surface layer….
I’ve always thought the most damning thing to end up with written as your epitaph would be “he meant well”…
Ok, I’ll keep this short…..
For tithing, read Malachi 3.
Also, the LOVE of money (greed) is the root of all evil. Lotsa peeps get that one confused.
“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.
“But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’
“In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.
do you mean this Amy?

Nah, RELIGION is the root of all evil:wink:
strong words for amy to hear – but after some thought i’d have to say i’m with you!! – its at least on a par!
I agree.
i dont think there is a singular “root of all evil” tbh
yes ellie – that’s the passage I meant!
And I’d have to say…the SPIRIT of religion/the ABUSE of religion is the root of evil!
