  • Hi,

I have been to a few festivals and for the first time tried Creamfields this year and it was EPIC! So now I fancy trying a rave!

I have heard there have been some in the Essex in the past but I haven’t heard of anything coming up lately. Suggestions welcome PM me.

As a rave virgin are there different types I should know about?

    Cheers

Welcome to pv. It’s probably best to put what music you like, as different raves play different music.

    Illegal or legal?

    There’s illegal music?

Hi, thank you for replying! I like most things really, mainly dance and dub step I guess. My fav band is Prodigy if that helps.

I’m going to say illegal as i’m after a good night out without being watched by a hawk!

Essex is one of the hardest places to hold unlicensed events in unfortunately and licensed one are other strict security. Similarly across the water here in Suffolk.

It might be no more expensive to attend festivals in the Netherlands, though requires a bit of pre planning as you are competing for tickets with lots of super organised Dutch youths. AlsobBe prepared for Border Force on the way back in at Harwich….

Great idea but I struggle to get time off work so I really need a one night only sort of thing. Boarder security isn’t the most welcoming thought too!

I have the same problems (plus I fit every “suspicious profile” you can think of..) – which bit of Essex are you in? In the South London events are accessible, whilst in the North there sometimes are reasonable EDM events in Colchester, I think the place is called “the sky rooms” from memory…

I’m near Colchester. I’ve been to the Sky Room once before but it was just another dull club. I’ll have to keep my eye out for special events. There is a club called Tribal in Colchester which apparently has a rave feel about it.

actually I may have got the venues mixed up and it is probably Tribal with those events. The venue owners get warned by cops about advertising on sites like this or even too far outside the area as “it could put them over safe capacity” or “attract dealers from London” and given the history of this region the cops do have some weight behind their paranoia.

you are not going to get the “free for all” of the 1990s because folk across East Anglia are smart and have long memories. They won’t for instance allow Clacton to be used for any festival (even though it might bring in some money to a deprived area) as it kicked off between rival groups at one in 1971 (I wasn’t even born then!) and the locals won’t forgive or forget…

These are the type of parties i go to.
