I use various adblockers and privacy badger; which along with the odd things I search for makes Google genuinely think I am either a bald socialist middle aged German, or someone of mixed German / Asian ancestry who might have hair but is way older than his actual age (and religious as well; but the worst I get is contemporary Christian music videos now and then; I suppose they assume we all have arranged marriages).

Not even funny pet videos, which the Japanese are particularly good at making (being largely outnumbered by pets and having lots of cameras). mind you I don’t get them from NL or DE any more; probably because Google has been berated by women with strong family values the world over for their spying and they are trying to target the children (out of the other species kept in houses only dogs will watch TV or computers for any length of time and there is already TV for dogs).

I’ve also had numerous sites complaining at me in Swedish, Norweigian and Italian for using adblockers; including many forums about drugs which surely you would expect users would want as much privacy as possible; as even NPS are illegal in many of those countries.

I suspect this happens because so few real humans are involved in selecting this content; but dread to think what a younger person in a Middle Eastern country could be getting.

Hardly surprising there is all this global terrorism TBH….

While you have the right to say nothing some people will start to suspect these things must be pretty depraved. I personally would never think or even suggest such a thing but some other people who didn’t know you so well might think otherwise.

it was Google the middle aged women (and many younger ones) complained at; quite understandably as videos of their pets and sometimes the rest of their familyincluding kids and grandchildren ended up being used to advertise random products the other side of the world and content often mixed up with all sorts of non family friendly stuff without their immediate knowledge or consent.

It has led to them and their families experiencing harrasment from other countries and of course attracts the attention of feds.

On other sites like Flickr they make it a lot clearer about how widely pictures can be shared and work more closely with telecoms companies and the Communications Ministry to check age ID etc..

They have safeguarding procedures in just about everywhere apart from the USA to keep watch over communications between under 18s and adults (Somalia signed the UN declaration earlier this year).

Google being US dominated only partly implements them or implements them very begrudgingly. when enough mums and grandmas from a country complain at them (especially where these women are intelligent and know how to set up parental controls on routers etc as well as controlling family budgets) Google then censors just about everything on Youtube before the national Communications Ministry (which often employs many of these women) does and/or changes the advertising rules – although by then the Communications Ministry has already blocked loads of sites at least to those below 18.

it was why a big reason this forum got split up into “over 18s / all ages”. I cannot get to this site on many UK mobile sims unless the provider has verifiable age ID and the same rule now appears to be the case in many other European countries.

no, google was (and even Flickr got some trouble for distributing some pic of a random East European family that ended up on a political campaign poster in Northern Europe). All the search engines and mainstream websites have tried to clean up their act with respect to privacy whilst still trying to gather data ; there is an army of Filiipino youth employed as contractors (the same ones who previously were working in call centres or being force fed speed to make hardware) to try and keep all the religious extremism away from twitter, facebook and other USA sites (they are used as “deniable assets” so the USA can claim they aren’t “censoring the Internet”).
