If you think that western democracy really represents the ordinary people then you need to watch Micheal Moore’s excellent 2004 documentary Fahrentheit 9/11.
As for capitalism not being like Nazism – who the hell do you think funded the Nazi party? Western capitalists! And the first thing the Nazis did was to smash the workers movements like the trade unions and the communists. Not only that but because of capitalism the environment is being destroyed by multi-national corporations which are not accountable to anyone. Western arms companies also sell arms to dictators, they armed Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein. Western banks also extorte billions of pounds each year from Third World countries in interest payments. Capitalism breeds coruption and bad practices because corporations always act in the interests of their shareholders never in the interests of the public.

I suggest you get educated on the evils of capitalism. Visit an anti-capitalist website like UK Indymedia

Yes that is a very good documentary, I’m a fan of Michael Moore’s films and studied them for uni. Indymedia is good also and I have regularly visited their site for some time. I’m quite aware of the evils you’re talking about and I’m often trying to tell my mates/girlfriend/anyone who’ll listen all about those same things.

But, these problems are not a direct result of capitalism as a system – they are the result of manipulative and unethical people and companies. As I said in my previous post, it is perfectly possible for ethical, fair trade and environmentally concious business to exist – and it does. It is the role of the Government, as elected by everyone who votes, to represent us and ensure this is promoted and unfair businesses are controlled – but this doesn’t always happen, hence the need to demonstrate and educate so that they are lobbied to do so.

At the end of the day the Conservatives got a lot of votes last election – unfortunately a large proportion of the country support their ideology. This needs to be changed so that people call for ethical and green politics, and alienating them with what appears to be random violence won’t help.

This letter from the anarchist protesters to UK Uncut interestingly recognises the case for debate on their tactics, the need for solidarity and the effectiveness of peaceful protest.

So Goldsword, Change of subject, Is the Royal Wedding going to be ruined by your anarchist friends then?

I think it would be interesting if there were some sort of protest,

One of my fav banners was a child’s one saying ‘dont spend our dosh on your wedding’ with pictures and scribbles etc raaa

I however dont agree personally with violence in this sort of argument

    – i cant answer for how I would feel if i were under a dictatorship etc

I’d rather taxpayers money be spent on a enjoyable and memorable day out than on 9 or 10 Tomahawk cruise missiles.

i guess it depends on what you call an enjoyable day out…

dont forget alot of people still work bank holidays no matter what the ‘said’ occaison is

    – I to be honest dont understand why the fuck it is so bloody ‘special’ and why it is a bank holiday ffs its 2 people who i dont give a fuck about getting married….

and spending some of our money in the process…

    mmmm….

yeah fuck the royal wedding, bunch of inbred retards marrying each other whoopdeedo, i dont care. cheers for the holiday, but your still all total wastes of space. and im sure them spending a fuck load of money on having a big party for themselves isnt gonna stop them also spending a shed load of money on buying weapons for the wars that we dont want.

Well I can guarantee they’ll be thousands of people lining the streets on the day of the wedding. Most people love a bit of pomp and pageantry and that’s what the Royal Family are all about. They’re a massive part of our history after all.

Plus think about all the tourism it’ll bring in, you know the yanks are going to be all over this. You gotta look at the bigger picture here, this will generate a shit load of money imo. 😉

I didn’t get the day off as a bank holiday though. I did take some holiday however, 4 days and I get 11 off in all. Fucking get in!!!

so is the crusades and slavery. 😉

Hehehe, not all history is good but that’s nothing to do with us. As I said to Clusterfrog once you can’t hold present Britons responsible for things that happened hundreds of years ago. 😉

    (from the facebook page)

On the 29th April there will be another Royal Wedding.

Who is paying for it? You are.

But at the same time, the Coalition Government says there is no money left – that is why they are making huge public sector cuts to welfare, education, transport and the NHS!

They have tripled university fees and slashed university funding by as much as 80%. This has led to hundreds of staff redundancies and the closure of many university departments. Although the Government argues that these cuts are unavoidable it is clear that they are wrong:

The biggest lie in British politics : Johann Hari

It is clear that they are making these cuts for an altogether different reason. Poorly hidden beneath their cheap rhetoric, the Government is intent on serving the interests of the elite: the greedy banks, the large exploiting corporations and the self-interested rich. For instance, tax avoiders such as Vodafone and Arcadia Group are free to hoard their £25BILLION in unpaid tax each year.

At this wedding there will be 1900 guests. These include the dictator King of Bahrain, and the King of Saudi Arabia, and dozens of other crowned heads of states and ridiculous celebrities. Autocrats and millionaires will be celebrating together. The poor, as per usual, will be scraping around outside trying to make a living.

They expect us to celebrate with them.

But we won’t. Instead we invite you to come and join us on the day and claim back our spaces they have stolen.

We’ll be on the streets – on the proposed route – at the same time – to send them a clear message:

    Whose Streets? Our Streets!
(details will be published as we have them)

    Please invite your friends.
    PEACEFUL PROTEST 🙂

thats the point i was making just cause they are part of history does not mean they are worth giving a shit about.

and you dont need to hold the royals responsible for stuff that happened in the past to be pissed off there is enough going on now to be pissed off about without even having to take the history into account..

about the planned protest would be amazing if it actually stopped the procession for a bit! id imagine the police would have to be on thier best behaviour that day as well, cant very well have them lining the streets in riot gear when the whole world will be watching will make us look like we live in a dictatorship!
