Apologies to non UK readers.
Check out this great little site and let the memories flood back.

I’m sure GLighting has seen this already though!
Got a bit carried away when it lead me to ebay and I bid on the whole collection of streethawk episodes.

I helped them obtain info for some of the entries (was working at the time with engineers who had actually been involved in the making of many of the classic 70s/80s shows). The bloke who does their 3D graphics was quite interested in the rave scene (which is mentioned a few times on there, as the “cult TV” period they cover crosses into the early 90s…)
incidentally many of the shows came from the USA and Europe, so those outside the UK may still find some good stuff..
It’s strange how I knew a certain amount the programmes so well but when downloading the theme tunes I couldn’t remember them at all. It’s usually catchy music that sticks in your head.
Kickstart being one of them. Used to love that show, but the music didn’t ring any bells at all.
the music used for many TV progs if not composed in house (some companies like ATV and Thames actually had staff composers) is often actually very generic stuff on “incidental music CDs” (which are still available for use today!)
This has a blanket copyright clearance so producers didn’t have to budget for extra royalty payments. In some cases the same music got used for more than one show – one particular example being “Give us a Clue” (Thames) and the first series of “Grange Hill” (BBC) ….
