Nah what I meant was how the swearing got through on the original transmission in the USA (I used to put together the kit they use in studios for switching signals) – and given that the attempt to put in a public access channel on NTL Reading went titsup within 3 years it would be most unlikely you’d be watching Yank cable access telly live in SE England….

in the 80s/90s it used to be possible to prank LWT news by getting a person or a protest banner into the view of studio 8 (the one what used to be up the top of the tower) – particularly from the nearby OXO tower which is open to to the public – but by the 90s (especially with the rise in protest actions) London News Network got wise to this, changed the windows in Studio 8 to a bluescreen and keyed this on to a roofcam what was on a delay so they could stop people using it for these kinds of stunts.
