WTF is happening :hopeless:
The violence between teenagers are getting worse and worse..
What’s wrong with people ???
Two teenagers are being treated in hospital after being stabbed in a London street.
Police said a 13-year-old boy was found with serious stomach injuries in Chingford, east London, just after 1600 BST on Thursday.
Another teenager suffered leg injuries in an attack also on New Road, near the junction of Church Road.
Both victims are stable in hospital. Police said they are investigating any links between the incidents.

I think this happens due to a lot of complex reasons (it is not just “poverty”, nor is it confined to any one racial group, or even London)
It been steadily getting worse since the early 1990s in London (I lived there around that time in the area where all the stabbings/shootings happened) and the gang culture was just starting up
A lot of young lads are growing up without any respect for their own lives (so of course they will not respect anyone elses), and with the usual anger that young men have at that age; plus there are too many negative influences.
For instance our national broadcaster spends our money making a drama programme which shows a London community where violence is accepted as a way of solving differences (even if people go to jail it is portrayed they can still easily get visits) – There are extremely detailed violent computer games available today, lots of porn (including violent material) and TV channels which permit “music videos” advocating violence and fighting to be shown….
Plus our govt gives the impression it is OK to bully some foreign countries to get the oil…
I also suspect the clampdowns on raves and “party drugs” in the 90s made this worse rather than better, it did not reduce the demand for drugs and made the music scenes angrier, to the point where they actually emphasise and seek out conflict rather than advocating unity.
if im honest,
when i lived up north i was mates with a lot of people who are now in prison for shootings, stabbings and drugs etc …
these lads (who are conquering the media at the moment) are bored, out on the streets with nothing to do. I know that this is the reason because it was what drove me to be part of such gangs when growing up close to liverpool.
its saturday night, your under 18, nothing to do and you and all your mates are hovering round the local shops. its what happens, i believe there is nothing you can do to tackle this knife crime, of course our country will higher the punishment for carrying a knife but will it work … no!
this is the way britains culture is now, with music and games being more violent than ever is it any wonder?
any of the younger lot got any ideas?
when I was that age yes me and my mates were involved in “gang activity” but it was petty stuff really, (maybe the odd bit of vandalism on comedowns) violence was rare and it was far more about drugs and having a laugh than fighting…
so what has changed in 16 years?
when i was growing up in and around a gang, our activity would depend on what day it was …
monday to thursday would be vandalism, ”small time” stuff as it called due to how much mental effort and actual time it took to complete the act
friday night to saturday night everything ranging from attacks to arson, whatever we saw and fancied we did
sunday night, dinner and a smoke
i would like to inform everybody i am no longer like this and hope my comments would not affect anybodys opinions of me

i believe there is quite a difference between my upbringing and yours GL,
i dont no whether i should of said anything …

I think most of us have done things we’re not proud of..
But we change , and thats important to remember :weee:
thank you for the reassurance angel 🙂

when I lived in Blackburn there was a lot of violence, esp on a friday or saturday night, usually fuelled by copious amounts of alcohol.
I used to go to a club (c’est la vie) which played metal, hip hop etc and the club next door (Never Never Land, owned by the same person) played dance music (mainstream stuff :yakk:)
Anyway the different groups of ppl (goths) and (chavs) that went to these clubs started to hate each other (no idea why), so ppl that went to ‘c’est la vie’ hated the ppl that went to Never Never Land and so the violence started.
Remember when I came out the club (both emptied at 2am) there were at least three riot vans outside.
ppl from one club would go into the other one and beat someone up and vice versa. Got to the point c’est la vie closed for a mnth cos someone had got stabbed.
Then noticed ppl were being beat up in broad daylight, going around with baseball bats etc… (my friends brother was put in hospital from being beaten with bats)
(Most of the young ppl that went to these clubs were as young as 15 or 14)
When I visit Bburn to see my mates and we go out at the weekend there is always some ppl fighting in the pub or on the streets, its crazy.
At xmas time we were in the pub and some guy who got his pint spilt by a guy who’d bumped into him started punching him! :you_crazy
from what you have posted its not that much different – just because I’m a decent chap now and had a good upbringing doesn’t mean I was always a “nice guy” – there were times in my life I could easily have got into some seriously bad shit (particularly after dropping out of uni) – and a lot of my mates did.
Looking back into it what I did seemed “petty” to us but probbaly cost people a lot of money and hassle….
The worst part of it is that most of us were from “decent” family backgrounds and many chose to take the bad paths in life, we lived in SE England in one of the most affluent outer london suburban type places so its not because of poverty or bad upbringing, it was our own anger and stubbornness..
Maybe my friends were less into violence than up North (although when it happened it could be equally brutal) but we certainly caned loads of drugs and took it out on society on the comedowns, did a lot of vandalism and arson (although never at raves) and a fair bit of theft – and at times we had no qualms about helping ourselves to what we wanted.
What did change it for me was getting involved in the underground rave scene and squats etc, you had a combination of “robin hood” type fighting the establishment but what we ended up doing (parties etc) seemed a bit more positive.
IMO It actually got my life back on track and I’ve seen it happen with other people who were initially doing stuff like nicking cars but are now going back to college and learning about music or other skills…
you are a decent guy GL, nice one 🙂
i believe your right about the upbringing statement, how we had relativly good up bringings we just chose the less socially acceptable route, i wonder why that is?

agree wiv you genaral lighting if we are lied to by ar own guvamunt so frequently then no won nows wat to baleve anymore.and if a “gang”gives sumut to believ in and protection then youths will join. its a prety vishus surcle relly and the violence in films, games and porn is steming from AMERICA briton needs to reconise this and stop showing so much american shit on t.v.that the youth of today idalises .ime sorry if this sounds a bit strong its not the ordinary american people its the GOVERNMENT…………

I REFUSE TO GET LOST IN THE QUEST FOR WAR
PEASE OUT.
well i certainly know although london is reported in the news a lot, it is happening all over – and not just in cities either. it’s happening up here in normally peaceful york and surrounding area, and i dont even wanna go into hull or grimsby (where me family comes from) as they are pretty fucked.
it’s simply not a big deal to carry a knife nowadays, and nor is it extremely shockin to see a gun being carried. it isn’t as bad now, but when i was in my first few years of secondary school there was a “knife culture” particularly in the older years, and in very few cases it was developing into a gun culture among some people. i used to carry a knife certain places, i’ll admit – it seemed everyone did. more for protection than anythin. and north yorkshire is quite rural, and york ain’t a bad city at all! but last week, a 16 year old was stabbed in york, nothin new. my mates who grew up in places like hull and certain parts of york when they were pretty young, have seen people get stabbed and its no big deal to them.
most of the people who had guns did have relatives in places like leeds and hull though. the thing with knife culture around here (i cant comment too much on gun culture because thankfully it isnt widespread yet and i only knew a few who carried guns, none of them i was good mates with) is that it isn’t about “bravado” or braggin, it’s simply no big deal. in fact in some groups it’s seen as abnormal if you don’t have a knife on ya. certainly when i used to go out in my local town i carried a knife, after a few of my friends got threats about stabbing and other violence aimed at them, i was shit scared and so carried a knife myself. i stopped because being a small community (well, among the “youth” lol) everyone knew who was actually capable of doing serious damage to someone, and they all ended up in prison. however i still avoid certain areas at night.
i dunno, violence is everywhere, and it’s no suprise really if someone gets stabbed, raped, shot – whatever. the way we have become insensitive to these sorts of events because they are so common is a very sad reflection on our society.
thing is its more the attitude that has changed rather than the use (or not) of weapons…
there was a knife amnesty in my high school in 1986 and the occasional fight/stabbing….
but most people didn’t want to kill their opponent – even if they really hated them they knew they would have to do a lot of prison time and there were better ways of spending your life than behind bars..
I think the atittude changed over the years – people no longer respect life, and I get the impression some youths feel that if they kill their enemy their enemy is always dead and they have “won” that battle – even if they risked being killed themselves as revenge, or there was a death penalty or a long prison sentence.
Prisons are full not just because of people being banged up for minor drugs offences and stupid stuff but from those who killed people in the 80s and early 90s but show no remorse and would do it again tomorrow (which is why they don’t get parole).
Someone might win a fist fight one day but go home and their house gets burned out with them and their family all in bed because nowadays no one is willing to back down…
Its the same attitude Yanks have towards conflict which is why they prefer guns – even if you are fatally wounded you can still squeeze the trigger with your last moments and kill your rival.
Its called mutually assured destruction and was (and still is) the cornerstone of NATO military doctrine.
People claim the “Western nations” are more civilised than some other countries but I think our “civilisation” is very fragile and there is a similar mentality amongst some youths to the suicide bombers and other terrorists; they know they will destroy themselves but are determined to take a few others with them.
Maybe attitudes will only change when our nations are less prepared to use war as the ultimate decider.
I know when the war started 4 years ago I was thinking “even if we “win” on the battlefield this war will be paid for in terms of “karma” on the streets – a bit of a hippy/abstract concept but I do think its coming true…
