not only did the rave get busted the assault charge sounds like a standard one what would be used if people were fighting amongst themselves as well as the cops, as assault on a police officer is a separate (more serious?) charge..

Rave in woods halted

POLICE managed to stop an illegal rave being held at woods near Haverhill.

Police were called at 11.10pm on Friday to reports of a gathering in woods near Little Thurlow. Vehicles were prevented from accessing the site and officers entered at 1.40am on Saturday.

Fifty people in the woods were dispersed by 2.30am. A 32-year-old man from Haverhill was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and possession of cocaine and was released on police bail.

A 19-year-old man from Haverhill was arrested on suspicion of committing a public order offence and assault, and was also released on police bail. Cannabis was seized and two warnings were issued.

I’ve seen a “safer neighbourhood team” in the coastal area turn up ready to close down a small outdoor party in someones land/garden (which had finished anyway!)

thats just absolutely stupid

was it an upper class area? thats just stupid were not allowed to have fun in our own land lol i understand it may have been a disturbance but cmon 1 night get a life :p

there hasn’t been a rave in Ipswich since 2001, not surprising though as there was a stabbing at one and a drowning at the other…..

also Ipswich in common with most of East Anglia has very few suitable venues for unlicensed raves without pissing off the neighbours. The only empty warehouses here are near to either shopping centres or residential areas and they are increasingly well guarded anyway. I wouldn’t risk it in this climate, not after two mates of mine went to jail for raves!

its a difficult one as much stuff legitimately and peacefully used to setup parties such as tools etc could be deemed by a cop to be “offensive weapons”, but I am also aware of a culture of carrying weapons at East Anglian parties to settle scores… after all the lad what smashed in the cop car with a cricket bat clearly wasn’t intending on playing cricket on Sunday..

and old people too
