shame as it seems like a perfect location, and nearly considered going to a party this weekend – but cops and locals aren’t prepared to give in just because the weathers good….
surely out of all of us on this forum what live in EA we can find someone with a bit of land and people willing to fill in a TENS? works out cheaper in the end than getting a stack confiscated at every party…
Five people were arrested and sound equipment and drugs were seized after 800 people attended an illegal rave in Norfolk.
In a carefully planned operation by police, three exit routes at Brancaster were blocked by officers and that helped them arrest suspected organisers and drug dealers as they left from a fourth exit yesterday morning.
Police went to the scene at Barrow Common, off Common Lane, at about midnight last night following a tip off from a member of the public.
They put the cordon around the site and rather than going in to break up the rave, they waited until people left and then made arrests.
About 25 officers were involved in the operation.
Two men, aged 44 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of organising the rave and of vandalism. Sound equipment was seized from their vehicle. They are still in custody.
Two men, aged 18 and 21, in a separate vehicle were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and a significant amount of cannabis was recovered.

just had a look at the parish council website. they mentioned they were hunting down a stray dog, and had also made a local resident take down a “illegal notice” from their own land. As if this bunch of local yokels are going to tolerate a rave in their area without dobbing it in!
And sadly once thats happened the cops are obliged to act, they’ve had multiple complaints across the region for not doing enough in the past to stop raves..
does sound like there using some different tactics. ive never been searched entering or leaving a party (touchwood). Never seen any cars really get searched, seen vans be stopped, but then all they want to see is if theres any sound equipment in there..
at the last few parties in EA my mates have been to they have checked nearly every vehicle. Bear in mind that the lead units are usually RPU (traffic police) who have ANPR (numberplate scan equipment). From this they can find out who owns the car, whether they are regulars at raves, check with CID etc if they might be dealing drugs. They can also input the VRM’s of new ravers vehicles on the system to investigate later.
They first started doing this in July 2007 at that Suffolk rave what got busted hard, in fact the amount of ANPR scans crashed their system, cops didn’t give up but stopped everyone from leaving until the system was back up! (this is mentioned in a general information paper released under FOI later that year.
They are now also definitely checking for traffic offences and low level drugs offences. In some cases they carry on during the early week (as rave drivers could be driving around sleep deprived or even DUI through cannabis or alcohol). a few friends of mine in both TVP and EA have lost their licenses this way! Cops have even said to them “we know you go to raves”
To be fair good drivers who are slightly older, have normal jobs and not involved directly in raves or associated crime get left alone a bit more, but the feds have been well on top of the EA scene since a younger more stubborn crowd (many of whom are NEETS yet can repeatedly afford to replace confiscated rigs – suspicious!) took over the party scene from around 2005.
on the way to the tek they were scanning every car as it went past, had to pass about 3 or 4 cops cars pointing straight at you with their headlights on fullbeam! when they scan the cars number plate does it just bring up the cars history or does it bring up the owners record as well? would have thought it would just be the cars as there could be many owners called mr whatever…
both. car has a registered owner, this name can be scanned on PNC (police national computer) and LIO (local intelligence office) to find out if the owner or even associates/passengers are wanted.
Heddlu have a lot of flash kit for surveillance and comms as it is all made there in Wales by a company called cleartone. It is one of the few remaining mostly all-British electronics companies.
Some of our surveillance kit in the UK is so good the Chinese buy it for their feds!

does the owner get automatically scanned through the PNC tho? or is it just the car number plate that gets scanned automatically. Im pretty sure it might just be the car as ive watched on police camera action where a flag comes up on the car and then they have to manually radio through the persons name… maybe mistaken tho.
saw one program where the only reason they had to stop a car was that it had been stopped a few months before and the guy had got a caution for weed. bit harsh if you ask me that if you get caught once that gives them free riegn to pull you over whenever they like. surely thats got to be against human rights or something that you get your card marked for life. doubt it is tho, guess they can pretty much do what they like… 🙁
it depends on the constabulary. Airwave (the new digital radios) is good for secure voice but not so good for data (it is too slow). Some areas do have mobile data terminals which use 3g mobile broadband but this of course only works in regions where the service exists.
Human rights laws worldwide are overridden by drugs laws and this is accepted at both EU and UN level… that won’t change until or if wider society tolerates recreational drug use. at the moment drug users are simply a minority and their activities viewed as criminal.
