just saw this on the cops’ website – sadly there is now a increasing problem with violence in teenagers relationships (something which was way less common when I was a teen) and at least this shows cops are dealing with it seriously now..Of course I don’t think teenage couples should be locked up for arguing but there may be times a youth needs a bobby to tell them that controlling/violent behaviour is not acceptable, IMO if ground rules are set when people are young it might help when they are older…
at the moment there is a real problem with DV amongst late teens/20 somethings and sadly it seems to be worse amongst “alternative” peer groups what won’t talk to their parents or authorities to deal with it..
3. Teenage Domestic Violence (14-18yrs) Incidents within the Copleston, Northgate and St Albans High School catchments (IP3 & IP4). This priority was set in January 2010
In January 2010, you asked us to tackle Domestic Violence within teenage relationships and this is what we have done about it:
Objective
To address domestic violence incidents within teenage relationships the Safer Neighbourhood Team will evaluate results obtained following a SNT Policing Surgery student survey.Update
Through partnership working the SNT will identify processes to enhance the understanding of legislation, improve the reporting structure and ensure delivery of support services to students who are victim of domestic violence and associated issues.Outcome
As of February 2010 Safer Neighbourhood Team Officers have undertaken an evaluation of survey results obtained from consultation with students. A presentation has been compiled which sets out the main aims and objectives of this priority. This has been delivered to both Suffolk Police representatives and Partner Agencies. An action plan is also being compiled which sets out future intentions of the SNT.
there’s a naional campaign going on a the moment about abuse in teenage relationships too, there are national tv and radio ads, posters and website stuff gwan on
yep I saw some info on TVP website as well about this but it only mentioned the main Home Office campaign… this one from a local SNT looks more focused as if the cops have actually engaged with the students in these high schools rather than just parroting Home Office initiatives, although TBH I think its a good thing that the Home Office has finally woken up to this issue (a few years late unfortunately)
yep, i know a few people who have had these problems
