But is it just the police, or more a case of the people (i.e non-ravers) getting on the cops case and continually whinging “that more should be done?”
its a fallacy that East Anglia is a “quiet/crime free” place. Granted it is quieter than some parts London or SE England, but there is a real problem with burglaries, robberies, feuds between people who know one another (even leading to murder) and domestic violence. Add to that a constant spate of serious road traffic collisions, many fatal.
There is plenty else the cops could be getting on with, and i expect a fair few of them would rather concentrate on these more pressing matters, but its just that they are “piggy in the middle(!)” whilst two equally stuborn parts of the community fail to reach any form of consensus..
you laugh…yet we were stopped on suspicion of terrorist activities with a van fulla speakers before…
unlike half the other party crews we spoke to them like normal human beings and everything was fine… but seriously they do class us as terrorists…
WTF

i wasnt laugh at all mate i was showin my sheer confusion at how ravers are treated
wasnt there a crew who are in court under the terrorism act for a party?

I’ve heard that as well, Fucking idiotic ain’t it!
Shall we start up a campaign to show people that we’re not evil murdering Nazi’s! :crazy_diz
its daft and certainly using anti-terrorist law is excessive, but non-raver local people in EA actually now feel intimidated by the raves (dribbling K head zombies and the odd few aggressive chavs don’t help)
With regard to hall parties though IMO there are two sides to this argument.
Village halls are one of the few instances of “grass roots activism” being successful in East Anglia. they build on a historical tradition and many are run by a diverse committee of local people of all backgrounds who use their communal effort and resources to look after the property
One of my relatives partners is on a hall committee for some place out in the sticks.
His personal view is that hall parties are OK – and that the cops overreact – but the consensus view is against them because they have happened before in the region and a small minority (same ones who cause trouble at free parties I expect) have caused damage to venues.
Other organisers have left them untidy, plus people are blatant about leaving drugs paraphenalia (nos canisters, balloons, wraps) scattered around.
Not all halls are suitable anyway, if you done the one in the village where I work it is bang in the middle of the village with insufficient parking spaces; and virtually next door to yet another sheltered housing complex for the elderly (actually I think half the village is sheltered housing)
Also people gave false details to hire the hall, when it is normally expected that someone is held accountable for running the event and will pay for any damages.
Everyone else who hires the hall does things via the proper method, after all even at a tea dance some overenthusiastic OAP may forget their specs (or has been dipping into their grandsons wrap on the sly) and blunders into a table full of the committees china
it is taking the piss a bit, its like if you said to a mate “can I keep a guinea pig in a hutch on your land” and they said yes but instead you put in a goat which ate up all their plants..
also if a crew found a suitable hall surely people would want to be able to do the event again?
Cant book our local hall if it involves youths…..
Got to be a fucking stuck up posh twat to be allowed to use it, all they do are dog shows and birthday celebrations (seems to be 40’s and over)
People have called to use it for birthday parties and have been told its full booked, i live near it and its hardly used.

hmm, I suspect this is partly due to TVP speaking with their counterparts in the East Anglian constabularies
but have their actually been previous incidents, or are the people in your area just acting on prejudice?
the hall committee people should at least be honest and have the guts to say to the true reasons of why they won’t hire the hall because of the risk of damage/trouble.
I’ll admit I’m not 100% sure of the history of East Anglian hall parties – the impression I have got is that they once happened fairly regularly without any problems but it went pear-shaped as you sometimes ended up with more people than the venue could physically handle..
The area i live in seems to be very anti youth, as far as i am aware there has been no issue in the past.
A local landlord used to supply the bar for them and he was told that they would not allow parties or events for the younger generation as they can be too much trouble….
The words party and mentioning people under the 40 mark seems to cause the red light to flash up…
5 generations under 50 years old …
so you saying these chavs all have kids at 10 yrs old …??
sounds about right :laugh_at:
i’ve never lived in an area that has been anythin but anti-youth, not just sayin that as one of us but fuckin hell, got the council sellin off the youth club buildins for offices, got people openly supportin police crackin down on all young people, doin wrong or not
i cant wait to get out of here, i’m sick of people with preconceptions and opinions of ppl (inc. me) based on the past and rumours, at the end of the day they havent got a fuckin clue what we’re about

FFS though. Can’t dance outside, can’t dance legally inside. Close down all the decent clubs and pubs. I hate this fucking country. All that’ll be left in 10 years time is a nation of 50+ moaning old sods and 5 generations of inebriated chavs.
they managed it in 5 years! (why do you think I devote some of my free time to learning other languages of nearby European countries? 😉 )
(some of the old people did do hall parties even before I was born – those what served in HM Forces and worked for Post Office / British Telecom learned electronics and often built their own sound systems, but they were more discreet about their public image)
