yep according to Syco from Whomp and a chap called Matt Southernwood (who presumably is the manager) they’ve closed down! No reasons given at present (although if the feds were responsible usually there is a EDP article about it)
WTF is happening to EA’s music scene? even the legal events are stopping!
that said I never went there as I was always a bit concerned about their dress code as about 80% of my wardrobe contravenes it (although I was told it was OK for specialist music nights, the website never got updated to say that..)

‘skins parties’ ‘bonkers’ ‘kids in UV’ ‘crap djs wot arent djs’
“bad tings a gwan”
yeah but its not illegal to be a twat in Norwich, otherwise the best part of a fair few people would all be in jail!
seriously though I’ve not seen it as bad as this in 20 years.. All my younger mates seem to have just given up partying too or even trying to put on legal events (as when they do they all seem to mysteriously get cancelled) 😥
:(. i dont think the problem is the organisers – its the punters going over the top perhaps, and also a big backlash. conservative
yeah I think thats the case although sadly the way people are carrying on they’ve pissed off the greens and hippies (half of norwich council, and also with a lot of power in Mid Suffolk!) which is far worse as obviously they are more likely to be on our side..
Although it’s a shame to a certain extent (as clubs that allow alternative nights to go ahead are very sparse in Norwich and the surrounding area) I never liked the place.
unfortunately what appears to have happened (ironically the fact mephedrone was legal made it worse) is that townies/students/chavs/emos and ravers all seem to have merged together and are doing the same drugs as well as boatloads of alcohol..
so cops and NHS and the rest of society are seeing the same inicdents (fights/OD’s) at or associated with every night time venue and are saying “enoughs enough”
it was only in my lifetime that the nightlife was extended until 01:00, 03:00 or 06:00…
also seems like its more financial or management problems than cops/authorities as venues usually get several warnings before they get a closure order…
what I really do think is a shame is for nearly 20 years I was able to guarantee if I attended an electronic dance music based event it would be friendlier and safer than anything else you could do at night. This now seems to be no longer the case…
probably having such financial problems because of the strict limitations
well if they’d kept their website updated / clarified the dress code issue or removed the dress code restrictions I’d have been more tempted to go to events there… clearly I don’t want to travel 40 miles and risk being refused entry on the door..
I know there’s not a lot what can be done about searches etc although even in Yarmouth they weren’t that bad compared to the carribean club… its worrying though as this weekend I was looking for a event to go to and there was fuck all – I can’t be arsed to go all the way to London as its a mission getting there and back if there are engineering works on the railways…
