  • Darren Lewis, 28, and his friend Daniel Bargewell, 26, were busy preparing a stock car for a rally in Swaffham at 11pm on Thursday when they heard loud footsteps outside the building on a farm between Stokesby and Filby.

At first Mr Lewis, who lives in Southtown, Great Yarmouth, thought a man was approaching, but when he peered out into the darkness he saw the silhouette of a beast 3-4ft tall staring back at him through green eyes while making the sinister hissing sound.
The frightened pair then barricaded themselves into the workshop while Mr Lewis phoned his sister Sarah Amis for help to remove the animal.
However, by the time Mrs Amis husband Anthony arrived on the scene half an hour later the panther had scarpered, leaving only paw prints behind.
She said: “They were worried and when my brother phoned up, he said ‘you will never believe this, but there is a panther outside the door.’ I said, ‘you are joking?’ but he said, ‘no, there really is a panther here.’”

Mrs Amis believed the giant cat was eventually scared off by the lights from her husband’s car.
There have been a number of sightings of panthers in the Great Yarmouth area in recent weeks and months.

Panther terrorises stock car enthusiasts at Filby – News – Norwich Evening News

I once thought i saw a panther on the golf course i worked at, turns out on closer inspection it was a black labrador.

Loud footsteps? Cats, specially big cats, are extremely good at stealth, maybe if it was walking through gravel it might make a sound but normal earth, hmmm sounds a bit fishy to me. 😉

my cat used to make a lot of noise running up and down the stairs for his size but having never heard a panther walking about I’m not sure what level of noise they make.

The one “big black cat” I saw on a succession of misty nights in Mid Suffolk turned out (when I left work earlier one night and it was still light) to be a normal size kitty – because of where it had been standing and the mist it looked way bigger than it was. I burst out laughing at it when I realised what had been going on, and it glared at me and padded off in annoyance at being rumbled :laugh_at:

    Ahaha! 🙂

LOL GL. I’ve got this image of one of them old horror movies where there’s this massive shaddow of some beast in a dark foggy place and then it turns out the beast is something really small just right infront of the light. Mby like how the baddies in scooby doo might trick the gang. :laugh_at:
