Although the estate where this occured does have a reputation for being “bad”, in reality serious hard drug use is less prevalent there (it happens more in the main town area amongst the homeless and drifters) and Ipswich has calmed down loads drug wise even in the 7 years I have lived here.
The charge seems to be an odd one (it would be normally suspicion of possession class A / B / C if it were a suspected illegal substance) this hints at the chemical being one of the new RC’s (also that the incident happened on Tuesday, a group of friends wanting to try out a new delivery ordered on Monday?)
Be careful out there (even “known” substances might not be what they seem…)
EEAST spokesman Richard Dunne said: “We were called at 10.52pm and had a paramedic on scene at 10.58pm followed by an ambulance as well as a SARS doctor.
“We had reports that a woman in her 20s was in cardiac arrest and she was confirmed dead at the scene just after midnight.”
Officers were stationed at the scene of two properties in Hogarth Road this morning as an investigation begins to establish the circumstances around the death.
Two men, aged 21 and 33, and a 38-year-old woman, who are all from Ipswich, were arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance.
That’s the trouble with RC’s man, they’re a massive gamble, especially when they’re brand new.

let alone the long term effects of people who use them a lot. I remember when people thought K was safe and now their bladders are fucked.
To be fair the standard of sub editing on that news site is getting really bad. I avoided using a later article with the deceased’s full name as she is a victim, not an offender and as such its not relevant to harm reduction but that had repeated info, grammar errors and all sorts. I know the staff at Archant are under a lot of pressure and crime reporters always have a unpopular and unpleasant duty (I once wanted to be one) but they could do better. If I get a chance to do daytime duty at ICR studios I might even walk over and speak to the folk there politely about this as we are going to be sharing news stories with them and its not a good example to young student volunteers which we are trying to teach media production skills to.
As for the RCs the info is out there but folk choose to ignore bad news and think its uncool to do actual research. OK bluelight isn’t always very friendly in the discussions, to the point it can be like a jungle of amateur chemists fighting for position but a lot of the info from there is discussed here in more manageable and understandable form.
A while back I (non aggressively) asked a lad from town who I knew had been downloading lots of mixes from here “why don’t you ever post, or any of your mates?” His answer was (to my amazement as he is an intelligent chap) that he was scared as he could not type/spell that well and that the posts were long and everyone seemed like “brainy uni types”.
He is not the only one from my town to have expressed that opinion, yet none of them seem to have a problem using facebook (and thus divulging loads of bait info about themselves). Of course facebook might be good for advertising events and other small chat but it is not a very good way of sharing or discussing the kind of indepth info you need to talk about when doing drugs if you are not going to be put at risk.
I can’t emphasis the term. RESEARCH. RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH! Most Psychedelic RC’s are well documented but its these new stimulant RC’s that taint the scene and are what most users will go for. 5-IT, MPA, MDPV, Pentedrone, Ethylphenidate, IAP, MTTA, MDAI… the list goes on. Its harder getting psychedelic RC’s because there is less of a user market for them in my opinion but for stims, its what everyone wants.
Though, there is no denying illegal drugs can do harm to. Too much MD in one night, your gonna have a bad time. If you french fries when instead of pizza, your gonna have a bad time…
Sorry to hear about this death. Though it is more unwanted media attention.
Well Im no stranger to recreational RC’s or illegals, done recreational illegals from mid teens to mid twenties ( E’s, speed, weed & acid ), then in 30s when Drone hit the scene I got into that, and since it was banned I have experimented with several other RCs most of which I found to have little effect & be disappointing, a couple unpleasant and one I made a big mistake with………………….. and thats all it takes, one bad mistake, underestimating effects, over estimating your tolerance, reading misleading reports ( no doubt spreed by the sellers ), getting stuff thats not pure or not what it claims to be and it can have really bad consequences, even lead to the tragedy of a death.
Our law makers like to label us druggies, criminals, outside society etc………… cant speak for all but in my circle of friends we all work, pay our taxes, commit no crime other than occasional possessing/using a banned substance, and just want to enjoy ourselves without hurting anyone.
We talk about ‘harm reduction’, fact is large numbers of people want drugs, want affordable ways to enjoy themselves, and those who dont want to break the law, or dont have the contacts, or dont want to mix with the people who sell illegals WILL try RCs. If anyone doubts this fact just look at the number of RC sellers, the size of the industry which would not exist without demand. Said it before and will say it again, the simplest most effective method of harm reduction is the decriminalise or even legalise recreational drugs like MDMA, ensure quality control and provide proper education. The fucking hypocrites who ban these drugs because what maybe a dozen people in MDMAs UK history have had it listed as a ‘contributing factor’ in their deaths ( not even a sole cause ) tax the shit out of highly addictive & harmful things like tobacco which is proven to be the direct cause of 10s of thousands of deaths in the UK alone each year.
The tragedy of this young women deaths could PROBABLY have been avoided if she had received factual education about drugs and access to legal clean & pure drugs like MDMA that have been used for many years with their effects, risks and dosages well known & documented.
I double checked the location and its not the estate I used to live on (Ipswich is basically divided into quarters with a mixed council/private housing estate in each one), but neither is that area a complete shithole.
Unfortunately in 7 years the authorities and NGOs have gone so hard towards zero tolerance and there is so much support for it from the local community (people here worry far more about being judged by their peers than by authority figures) they have eliminated the local party drug culture to a large extent, replacing it with a toxic combination of booze and surreptitiously consumed RC’s.
What is more fucked up is the complaints against rave culture here were never that much even to do with the drugs. you cannot keep all the drugs out of here any more than you could bail out the North Sea with a tea cup. They are really because the events attract a boisterous young crowd who dare to stay up late and make noise after midnight, and more conservative minded folk (especially those what come here from London to escape the hustle and bustle of the city) don’t tolerate it.
