I found this whilst looking for some other stuff for work (as the manager of operations was asking about our business continuity plans in case there are any further disruptions to electric supply).
Its good to see UKPN recruiting apprentices as there is a shortage of skilled electrical engineers for these vital tasks (its no good having a dot.com company if there is no leccy to power your computers and networking kit, broadband connections do not have as much backup power as analogue telephones). This might be of interest to anyone in North London who has some experience in the skilled trades and a UK driving license – it seems like a particularly good salary for an apprentice (though this can be hard work in challenging conditions, its basically covering the old NorthMet area which has both suburban and semi rural areas.)
The applications close next week. They mention “health and safety policies” but nothing about substance use testing, but TBH if you work on this sort of job you have to stay sober around working time if you want to survive!
