Merseyside cops have warned about a “bad batch” of MDMA/XTC pills in circulation around the region.
They are described as “orange/red”, shaped like a shield rather than circular and with a “lion / griffon ” logo on them.
It is not clear as yet what the “bad” pils actually contain; whether they are PMMA or a very high strength MDMA pill which have also been in circulation in the Netherlands.
I will keep an eye out on both UK and NL news in case any more info turns up about these…
update : a search in Dutch for the terms “xtc pillen leeuw” (xtc pills lion, I am barely sure how to spell griffon in English let alone Dutch) returns several articles about a shield shaped pill containing 175-200mg MDMA doing the rounds from 2012 onwards in NL. This is a much stronger dose than usual for either country.
A report from a young Dutch user in English is below. There is reference to a break line and the pill being made easy to breaK; hinting that it should be consumed in halves.
Unfortunately users in both UK and NL who have become accustomed to weaker pills and/or have to consume them in secret due to drugs controls at their favourite venue can be tempted to swallow the whole thing or even more than one at once; leading to the risks of ODs. It has always been safer to consume the first of a new batch of xtc-pills a half at a time until you know how strong they are…..
