I check the news feeds from all the SE police forces quite often and although I fully understand people don’t like them closing down raves and confiscating kit you still definitely need cops to deal with dark stuff like the serious crime, and sadly I can see why cops are wary of all large msuical events, even at raves people are becoming more violent.
most cops don’t know the difference between a commercial garage night or a westlife concert and an illegal rave – its all “loud music” to them.
crack is a big problem in all our areas and was a legacy of the previous governments anti-drugs policies (which scared people off party drugs yet could and will never reduce demand)
but you can’t always blame it – i’ve seen people who’ve never touched it kick off with one another…
this case gets more worrying by the minute…
cops are saying this isn’t a random attack – but they aren’t sure that the girls knew their attackers – but the criminals travelled 60 miles to do this?
Doesn’t make sense, unless a side motive was to show “we run this manor”
You occasionally see these “wannabe rude bwoys” at parties sometimes in our area, they don’t go dragging girls away but thats often only because people are watching them and looking out for what they are up to.. (they have tried it before)
don’t want to sound too much like an oldie but can’t help but think this wasn’t as bad in the 80s/90s, we had our drugs etc – but OTOH you were brought up with more respect for girls – although there were some right tarts (of both genders) around, no definitely meant no…
I have just read this after being out all weekend and my heart wept… I too have noticed the change in peoples attitudes over the last few years and cannot get it into my head as to ‘why?’
The mention of crack does ring true in some instances but I think that a lot of the younger generation do see things in a rather agressive manner as I see the youngsters in my area (Stirling) drinking their buckfast and then battering couples in their 50’s coming home from the pub for no reason other than they were there!!
But then again a lot of these violent acts are not only carried out by younger people or crack heads but older ‘should know better’ types.
Is this not just an insight into how society is going to end up, as in the UK following in the footsteps of America and while we still have people in the UK wanting to be gangster types this will just increase the younger generations needing to prove themselves in this gangsta’ world.
Sorry dont know if I am making any sense in this post as this has just made me rant like a mad woman as it really pisses me off and all these people should be injected with a chill formula at birth to ensure their horrible personalities should never rise in society!!!
Rant over!!!
yeah thats sum amshed up tings bruv. im from newbury town. know reading well. nice town. sum dirty c_nts there though….. a shame
Miss Chief – everything you say makes perfect sense – I read Scots media as well and have also noticed the large increase in violence – its a complete lack of respect for others at the moment.
With the attacks on elders what usually happens is an older (age 30-60) male challenges a group of younger males for their behaviour and is set upon – not just given a bit of lip, actually proper done over. I’ve even read reports that a lot of middle aged men have started carrying knives because of fear of this!
but also theres less respect for women these days, and a predatory attitude amongst many males…
latest updates – from various sources….
a fifth suspect has been arrested in the London area and remains in custody – is still being interviewed…
A vehicle dredged from the River Thames is also being examined by forensic scientists, although not linked directly to the incident the cops have decided to ensure this forensic examination is thorough (it was a fairly high value car, which would not normally be just stolen and dumped in the Thames when criminals could re-sell it for cash..)
Also a report of a third girl in the car, and a warning that any attempt to approach her (names are not being given) would be (quite rightly) treated as witness intimidation.

I totally agree with your statement about lack of respect but this is a lack of respect for humanity in every possible way.
And as for the attacks where the younger males are challenged by elders, yes I also agree that this does happen but that also happened in more serious (heated) arguements when I was younger.
Nowadays the youth are just attacking the older generations because they want to feel a false sense of power to boost their already twisted ego’s, in their twisted pathetic little worlds!!
Sorry their I am off on a rant again as this subject makes my blood boil  :annoyed:
This is good though to see that the polis are gathering a lot of info but it would be better news if they actually had the sick peeps charged and awaiting sentencing!!

to be fair on the cops its a very difficult procedure to get the evidence unless someone is covered with claret after an attack and literally caught red-handed
there’s a far stronger “gang culture” these days and people won’t co-operate with cops; lads who think girls are just “prey / pieces of meat” aren’t gonna turn their mates in (unless they are themselves at risk of a long stretch in HMP)…
one of the lads from a London party crew was murdered in 2003 and the court case is still going on..
update – extended detention time granted for most recent arrestee (suspect 5)
two further arrests in London and Birmingham areas….
both young men of 18 and 19…..
but the worrying thing is how young the suspected offenders are, this problem goes way beyond courtroom and prison cell and won’t go away even when those responsible are behind bars..

Please do not think that my last post was a jibe at the length of time that the police are taking in charging people. But this a form of crime that to be free of all evidence of being present at crime scene must have taken some doing, someone, somewhere must know something.
Yes I can understand your point of mates not sticking each other in and also the reference made to the opinions that women are just a slab of meat becoming more apparent etc… but that surely is a problem with what they are seeing and picking up from somewhere!!
I totally agree that this problem is needing to be addressed outwith the law system, but where do the ‘us’ the people start. I mean why are the younger generations acting this agressively????
Surely there must be something being done already to help understand before society begins to lose the younger generations all together :question_

I’m so glad someone has picked up on this….
i think its a number of things that have been getting worse since the 1990s
the backlash against so-called “political correctness” in the 80s has in fact caused the return of a laddish culture where girls are sex objects, people from different races are to be treated with suspicion and violence is seen as the the best way of sorting things out 🙁 (like things were in the 1970s)
much of the media aimed at young males (FHM, Loaded etc) reinforces this attitude and our “freedom of speech” somehow provides no alternative progressive voice (fact: most lad-mags are funded by groups close to the Tory party!)
schools and colleges today are youth-farms for future corporate slaves, and exam results factories [without even the opportunities for the kids who’ve slogged hard to pass those exams!] even those who do well or go to uni get told that the “exams are easier”.
This is bullshit – my mums a teacher and sometimes asks me to look at GCSE material etc, it is as difficult as it was back in the 1980s!
From speaking to younger people there seem to be way more exams these days, and creative stuff like art and music isn’t taught much at secondary schools as “it isn’t wanted by the business community”
If I was a teenager again I’d probably end up becoming an anti-social chav (and I did well at school for a bit)
there is a also severe lack of progressive, positive leisure opportunities for youth nowadays; the public sector refuses to fund it because middle england complains “we didn’t need that in our day” and the voluntary sector doesn’t have the money.
we also need more positive role models – instead of those footballers who beat up their girlfriends and swear at the ref yet get paid loads of money…
also in the UK we don’t have a tradition of encouraging young people to work together for positive aims and minimise conflict without expecting money / fame at the end of it – apart from raves which get busted and shut down all the time!
the only progressive solution I can think off is tolerated and safe spaces for young people to express their energy and creativity through art, music and sport – but its all bogged down with licenses, red tape and nimbys opposition to fun
needs to change quickly though before too much blood is spilt…
In Alloa (which is only about 3 miles from my house) we do have a community centre that provides the kids with a centre that has everything that they can want… it has skateboard ramps/bike ramps, a recording studio, computer arcade games, invitations to people that they want to meet/interview etc and the list could go on and on and on so I wont bore you with the extended list but the kids are still committing the unecessary violent types of crime even with the support of the local/regional councils!! :head_to_h
In my own personal experience of the local kids in my area when i first moved here they were vandalising my car and my property, until I let them meet myself (and my dogs) and spoke to them, perhaps bringing my vocabulary to their level and then since then they seem to have been alright (touch wood  )
so if the progressive solutions have already been tried, the only other negative influence I can think of is the media – both broadcast media and the internet.
It does seem the more dysfunctional elements of society get way too many column inches and airtime – I don’t mean valid stuff like local crime reporting which often helps catch criminals; but the constant tabloid gossip columns, the behaviour of celebrities and the reality shows where there are always raised voices and conflict….
you’ve got soaps which show domestic violence as normal, if kids grow up watching this crap on the idiot box its hardly surprising they are getting more violent TBH
then you’ve got computer games which show very realistic methods of killing and violence – they are IMO worse than films as you have to take part in order to get through the game
I’m glad to see though things like Rooney losing his sponsorship, and sometimes feel the (more liberal) press do a good job in policing the celebrities’ and sportspersons’ lifestyles as they otherwise they can feel they are untouchable…
I feel very strongly that if someone becomes famous, particularly if kids are looking up to them – they are obliged to be a positive role model to their fans as justificiation for their high salaries ands celebrity status. I don’t of course mean that they could not go out clubbing or smoke the odd joint (a minor pecadillo nowadays), but a coke binge where they end up having a fight with their own band members or co-workers, or cheating on their long term partner when they have kids to look after is wrong IMO..
OTOH its a dodgy practice letting things get to the point where the tabloids run by commercial companies essentially dictate morals, I think its actually getting to the stage where ofcom and other regulators which answer to our elected representatives need to step in.
I don’t think they should censor news etc, but entertainment progs shown on mainstream TV channels need stronger regulation to reduce the amount of violence and conflict shown as “entertainment” rather than a necessary part of the content (like a documentary about war for instance)
the media may have some influence…
but i think there needs to be proper investment in family support (and even intervention) services
many poeple who have had a shit childhood will not be able to relate to their own children naturally or know how to play constructively, and need help and support to learn how to do so
social services are often stretched to the point of collapse (or their frontline staff are, due to top heavy organisation which drains resources into over-paid jobs) so that even if a health visitor realises there are problems, but there is no clear evidence of physical or sexual abuse, no further action is taken, leaving children with parents who are ill equipped to be parents…
and so the circle continues
while the media doesn’t contain too many positive role models, the most important role models should be in your own home IMO
I’m not saying “blame the parents” (like so much tory BS), i’m saying “help the parents to be equiped to be parents”
good point globalloon ….
I was lucky enough to have a good family background where both my parents stayed together and were supportive..
so many other people don’t have that start in life..
the linked problem is where parents don’t have enough resources to look after their kids and use telly or computer games as a babysitter..
