FFS its as bad as Londonistan – and folk wonder why music events get locked down and nannied.. :hopeless:
Two attempted murders and a sexual assault at the T in the Park music festival are being investigated by police in Tayside.
Just before midnight on Sunday, two 20-year-old men were found with serious abdominal injuries at the event’s campsite at Balado, Perth and Kinross.
Police said three people were helping them with their enquiries
BBC News – Police probe two murder attempts at T in the Park
jeez.. keep it away from the music fs
shit, t in the park looked pretty crap but i didnt think it was that bad to make people do that
if you took a sample of 85000 people in Scotland over a normal 3 days weekend, i wouldn’t be surprised if it worse than this though!

Yes, scotland and the UK has some of the highest violent crime rates in the the EU but it doesn’t matter if its Edinburgh, Tallinn, Vilnius or London – the obvious issue here is that people are supposed to be gathering peacefully for a social occasion, and there is the argument that they seem incapable of doing so. Across the EU minority of violent thugs can wreck any gathering if they are not stopped by security procedures and/or brought to justice by the cops if they do manage to do anything serious.
Even in the relatively peaceful and tolerant Netherlands, an incident like this happened at a free dance music event in 2009..

The main reason Strawberry Fair got stopped in 2009 was due to anti-social behaviour including violence. (Its now back on for 2011 with more SIA-trained guards dealing with ASB and blatant drug use, and the alcohol license revoked).
Yeah it’s a shame with these kind of things there’s always a few that ruin it for the the rest and they’re the ones that get the attention from the media/politicians and results in more restrictions for everyone else. I’ve been to T in the park twice and it’s probably my favourite big festival and easily one of the wildest…unfortunately its always gonna be the way that with anything on this scale with lots of booze and drugs and the culture in this country there are gonna be some people acting like that
If its kicking off across the North Sea in places like in NL then I think a much wider and problem with all large gatherings. its probably linked to “crowd mentality” the recession and people from different crowds – just different groups of people and nothing to do with race etc.
if people can’t play nicely the playground will simply be shut down, or the alternative will be more surveillance to identify known troublemakers and stop them attending, like what metpol do with Notting Hill carnival – but this is expensive so either ticket prices go up or festivals with free entry increasingly stop happening as the non-participant public doesn’t want to pay for the extra security/police costs…
we were actually staying in the area the stabbings/sexual assaults took place – pretty crazy/disturbing  makes me think twice bout goin bk next year 😥
I was the same about reading festival about 15 year ago –
a girl got raped in her tent the year I went –
I decided not to go back, also it smells of poo there as the toilets were minging
so do try and stick to what hopefully or atleasts attempts to attract a ‘fluffier’ crowd
Funny thing is the police said it was an improvement/
a lot of cops just count overall crime figures, so a event with less property crimes but more crimes of violence is still viewed as a “improvement”. looking at the BBC figures it was only a slight “improvement” on the crime figures anyway..
