I know that sign well – and it’s not on Islay – it’s on the CalMac ferry that runs between Islay and the mainland. No problem taking yer poochie into the pubs on the island. I am very familiar with the ferry because my own island, the Isle of Jura, has no direct mainland ferry link so I have to go via Islay any time I ever go back there. I lived for 3 and a half years on Jura and used to go over to Islay regularly for shopping, but I’ve not been back to the Isles since early last spring and don’t know when I’ll next be there again.
