Alert as ecstasy girl taken ill
Clubbers are being warned about a dangerous batch of ecstasy after a 16-year-old became seriously ill.Hampshire police said the girl was found in a life-threatening condition in Eastleigh town centre just after midnight on Saturday.
Officers suspect she had suffered an adverse reaction to an ecstasy tablet taken during a night out with friends.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested in connectjion with the incident and is being questioned by police.
Acting Insp Andy Proctor said: “The reaction the girl suffered may be as a result of a bad batch of ecstasy and she was admitted to intensive care as a result.
“We would like to take this as an opportunity to highlight the potential dangers of drug use.
“We also urge anyone who is offered ecstasy or any other controlled drug to seriously think twice about accepting them in light of what has happened.”
More likely the drug was not ecsatsy or anything vaguely resembling it :hopeless: as so often happens
Does anyone know what pills they were? this happened just down the road from me so they are probably still in my area.
according to a (rather belated IMO) report from Hantspol press office they are called “Red Stars”.
Seems that the cops waited until they could have a pop at the festival’s “drug culture” to release the full details of the warning :you_crazy
:noway: they would have reduced sales more if they had come out with the warning earlier….chances are that by now the batch will be all gone
“We have information that suggests these tablets could be extremely harmful, even to people who habitually take ecstasy,” said a police spokesman.
what information? goons
I check hantspol press releases website every other day (a hangover from when I used to live and party in that part of the country) and there has been 100% of jack shit posted about these incidents – other than what I have relayed here via the BBC websites.
The cops still appear to be holding back information in the hope it scares people away from taking recreational drugs. Those tactics didn’t work in the 70s/80s/90s and they definitely aren’t gonna work today…
Trying to create a climate of fear and paranoia by ‘bigging’ the danger up:you_crazy:you_crazy
As this was the only reported problem in what may have been a batch of anything up to millions seems a bit lame…next time they cry wolf and, maybe it is serious, less people will take notice as they have blown any credibility they had left with those using the drugs…
hit the nail on the head mate, exactly rite
but of corse they’ll use the causalities as a result of impure drugs as a reason against legalisation :yakk:
