nah, that is actually an accurate description of the UK Garage/Grime scene:ar15:

thetre are unlicensed Garage raves but they don’t do “free” parties because as its all about bling and making money as well; (like they charge on the door to get to a party in a disused house and sell pills for a tenner!)

Grime lyrics are well aggressive like British gangsta rap and people actually fight when certain tunes come on (like stacking but with actual fighting!)

the music is actually OK and well produced, it takes a lot of influences from old skool rave and has good baselines but the attitude which goes with it totally sucks though.

A mate of mine used to produce it but has given up because he’s become a dad and doesn’t want to get shot or stabbed whilst doing a live performance!

UKG is popular in many parts of Ipswich.

    Quote:
OK fair enough there are people selling drugs where raves happen; but in years of raving since 1991 including often ropey parts of London; I have never heard of a pistol being brought to an outdoor rave (apart from UKG ones but I don’t go to those!)

I am afraid I have, the police found some fire arms and many other weapons when they searched dozens of vehicles and a meeting point in oxford(pear tree) back in 92 93 which was reported in the newspaper and was not some robbed at a squat party(in the venue) in London at gun point last year or the prievious, the police take this in there stride its some thing they cant get away from, I am not going to list the others but you get the point,

but you cant escape the fact that violence and the use of weapons is less frequent at a free party than most other similar activities.

we know that and the police know that.

I would walk on my own though a party in the wilds, in the dark knowing there is no law near with less fear than if I walked though a town on a Saturday night even if there was an open police presence.

the world is and never was a safe place and unless there is a fundamental change in the equality of its citizens it never will be.

I am not condoning the carrying of weapons but it doesn’t surprise me in one bit.

NEVER THINK ANYWHERE IS SAFE. beware, take care, be aware and as I always told my kids, always check your exits.

Rossi B and Luca played in a little club in Cardiff last week and a guy got shot.

Pretty much unheard of in Cardiif clubs… but there you go.

Innit. I would have been there if it wasn’t for the TEK.

    A bit worrying.

who said they were going to or went to the rave

    as biotec said good point.

article says: “car stopped at Wadebridge at 5.30am on Monday morning”, which is a run south down the A39 from the rave, and these folks apparently come from kingston. article also says they were stopped by police monitoring the area around the rave, rather than were followed from the rave… etc wonder which direction they were travelling in and whether they’d been to “run to the sun” festie thing?

still, complete lunacy wotever the story.

as to the firearms at parties comments, i seriously doubt that they’re that prevalent – given the number of fairly serious fights that have occured over the last decade at parties i don’t remember any stories of people nipping back to the car to sort it out with a gun – the only gun wavers i’m aware of have been loony landowners or the odd spectacular seriously organised crime muscle-in kidpap style cases of the early aciiid days. those stories travel.

    bloody awful headline though.

I have a friend of a friend who had his van with lights/lasers & some sound equipment taken at the Tek.

Basically hes a bit concerned and from what i gather the OB have said he can come and collect his van but they are claiming there is no equipment in there. From what i gather this equipment is ‘hire equipment’.

Any points of advice would be appreciated. Anyone else experienced this ?

this is unfortunately becoming more common and happened to a friend of mine (he got the van back but the sound equipment is still AFAIK held as evidence!)

To justify seizing the property, cops need to have sufficient reason to do so, but I think they still have to be proportionate within human rights laws.

Often vehicles are returned (after having been checked out by the traffic cops) before sound equipment as people claim (quite rightly) they need them for work purposes or as living space.

if you try the “hired equipment” blag the cops seem to be checking on the validity of the hire company and whether they knew the kit was for an illegal event. At every stage they are trying to get more people to come forward and admit to owning the kit, and to play one person off against another.

Its also possible the cops he spoke to were a on a different shift and did indeed find just an empty van – as the sound equipment is being stored elsewhere…

They are not just using cops any more, there are also lawyers involved looking for both crmiinal prosecutions and civil recovery of costs such as clean up..

Thanks GL, your a star m8. :bulb:

    no probs.

Also its worth your friend speaking to everyone else who had stuff taken; IME cops often just empty all the contents of vans into one big pile before they index things, and stuff often gets mixed up.

They even go through record boxes.. One police force managed to mix up a number of my records with someone elses many years ago…

    Thanks 🙂

Will pass all this on. Hes flapping a bit so this should give him some insight into the process.
