hmm I have a nasty feeling then that it would have been the locals in that area calling for the cops to “do more” – they feel that the rave is due to the landowner deliberately letting the area get trashed so the quarry can be restarted or extended or other development brought in. A totally irrational fear but if they call 999 the cops have to act on their reports and if enough do so theres more of a case against the rave.
Especially given that the partyline told people to block the road to stop further police units getting access, it must have meant that people were parking in all sorts of places and even if the locals didn’t hear the rave they would have noticed all the extra traffic.
This was a complaint in Breckland district (Thetford Forest) despite the raves being inaudible from outside certain parts of the forest!
Going back a few years I remember a number of raves in Reading where the cops were fairly lenient and it was the locals what kept complaining to the cops, the press and even their MPs/councillors saying “not enough has been done” – then TVP went in a lot heavier with dogs, riot squad and confiscated loads of rigs.
