the place did’nt look very special to me:laugh_at:
AFAIK the helicopter circled for a while, then some cops on enduro bikes came through.
I dunno if that section 63 thing was served
but then the riot lot and mounted lot came in.
someone who saw it kicking off said the helicopter flew off for 5 minuits justas the coppers booted off then came back when it calmed down.
coincedence?
I doubt it
yep that is a bit rum, as during an ill-fated party in Suffolk the cops made it clear right from the start that they would stop the event somehow – even the normal uniformed units were not at all friendly and said they wanted the event to stop there and then.
Some months later I found a paper on their freedom of information website link that showed that the cops , council and CPS had become determined to seize a rig following the event where a police car had been trashed..
I don’t think by that point they were prepared to negotiate – but normally there is at least a PA announcement from the helicopter (and the time of this is often logged).
I expect the helicopter would have flown away to stop people who have watched too many action films trying to pelt it and raining down missiles on everyones heads in the process, or they were worried about laser pointers / lights being used to “blind” the pilot as this apparently happened at a East Anglian rave (the cops share info about all these incidents)
Well I saw the coppers grouping up about 4 hours before they came down. They were just building up the force as time went on. But they sent em in wave by wave. FIrst was just horses and people and cars. Leftover though, there were about 6 riot vans a riot BUS too…. They got em together pretty quick too.
I did see coppers on crossers a few hours before they started assembling though. Looked like they were escorting a combo van out of there.
There was on rig near the end that didnt turn off either as the coppers were pushing through. Bad Idea tbh, because I think it pissed them off more trying to get to it. It was the rig furthest away from the entry point.
Great party though! Dusty and windy as fuck. Felt like I was in the middle east or something.
Or they didn’t want to catch police brutallity on camera:wink:

Oh yeah they were chatting something down, but I was too spangled to hear what they said. Plus they did fly pretty low. Didnt help with the dust!
I didn’t hear anything?
I was in front of a rig though:crazy_dru
That dust was head doing though, i’m still pulling it out of my nose:yakk:
banging tunes, cool people.
good to meet so many partyvibe folk, i bumped into starlaugh, playground.p, rach, djprocess bubblejuice, dom s u f c.
only downside was i bumped into bloody sparkplug too
only joking mate:laugh_at: did you have a good one?
oh yea and did daftfader get home?
Bastard I only met DJ process you and Spark_plug I think. At one point i was walking round for ages looking for you lot. I was proper minced though lol.
Wicked to meet a few of you though!
probably a bit of both – but they know loads of people got phone cams or other camera equipment and footage may end up on youtube and I’ve seen cops here quite happy to have Anglia TV filming a baton charge whilst it was in progress…
TBH I think the stubborn rigs act of “defiance” may well have been what caused things to escalate – in all the parties I’ve been to provided all the crews pack up at the same time and people don’t act like idiots towards the cops they get left alone
In 2004 at mansfield it was a similar situation (complete with dust!) but the crews packed up all at the same time (having had at least a days partying) and everyone left without even being searched..
Anyone get any pics?
Wicked view from the top of the quarry. Or cliff; whatever It used to be.
I bet you lot sprinkle that dust on your cornflakes and coal every morning :laugh_at:

toasty get all ur pictures up u bell. i kno uve got loads cause ur mate took one of me
oh we apologise, we didnt kno you were a northern raver. i think this time its a little different seeing as not so long ago the manchester police got beat by a load of rioters
and also all the northern ravers say police are ok with free parties because sheffield is the only place with an actual free party scene and the police are only fine with us cause we dont take the piss, but surely you can see how the circumstances are different?
