exactly….
I’ve never been that much into multi day festivals, can’t be arsed to spend a entire weekend camped out in a field with fuckloads of random people but don’t mind dancing round a stack and exploring for about 12 hours..
if I wanted to go camping I’d do it in a smaller group I can wholly trust and in a quieter area….
fair play, unity tribes a whole lot cheaper as well! i love the 3 or 4day festies however! :weee:
I did go to wentwood in 2007 but (busts aside) it was like lord of the flies on the 3rd day – everyone was getting sketchy, irritable and paranoid…
I actually read a large amount of the Waveform event management plan (not all of it as its about 180 pages) but now I understand why all that stuff is needed for a multi-day event…
anyone got any pics/reviews of either?
just read in EDP someone had to be airlifted out to NNUH by Anglia One as he’d had heart attack and is now recovering in hospital…
dude is only 4 years younger than me (normally if you’ve made it that far on the scene its rare to have a bad’un..)
hmm – bit of a rum’un when the EDP and old bill have more to say about this event than 3000 ravers? can’t even find any youtubes of it, normally there’s hundreds of em with youths (and not so young folk) holding on to the stack with hardtrance blasting away…unless half of Norfolks broadband is fucked (which actulaly has happened in some places)
its not that bad a incident count for 3000 people but the blue light services are going to want to recover their costs if another one happens so I expect next years one will cost a bit more than £15..
TBH if they’d done it instead of that poncey harvest at Jimmy’s farm that would have been quality as it would have been down the road from where I live 😉
Police were called to the event shortly after midday on Sunday 12 September, following reports of a man collapsing.
The man received treatment at the scene and was later taken to hospital by the air ambulance where he remains in a critical condition.
Overall the event ran without incident and officers from Norfolk Police and Breckland District Council had worked with the organisers to ensure a significant security presence was on site and that the conditions of the licence granting the event were met.
Two people who had been turned away from the event were arrested in the Market Place in Swaffham on possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply. A 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old man have been released on police bail until October 24 pending further enquiries.
Meanwhile, a vehicle found on the A1065, which had been at the event, was stopped and seized as the driver had no valid insurance. A further two people were arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Was there i have a few pictures. That guy did have a heartattack and went into a coma so i was told. He collasped about 5 meters from me, was a pretty fucking nasty site. Over than that it was a pretty good night, although the sercuity where very unreasonable about pass outs i thought. It cost me £15 to next my jacket out of my mates motor…..
Apparently the casualty is making a good recovery in NNUH.
Incidentally until a medical professional makes a comment to the Press, there is no defnite proof that drugs were the main factor – lots of otherwise healthy young people have undiagnosed heart problems which can strike at any time – however that doesn’t remove the fact that a lot of NHS resources were required to treat the chap, and quick action would have been required to ensure Anglia One could land without any safety risks to anyone – which justifies the licensing costs and safety and security arrangements.
When someone got injured at a Norfolk rave in 2009 and Anglia One got deployed the people crowding around them were assumed to be hostile rather than just onlookers and it got escalated into claims they were actually pelted! I was at this rave but didn’t see the incident having gone into another barn to take some photos. I consider it very unlikely that anything was deliberately thrown at the Ambulance staff but as I’ve noticed a few sketchy folks at Norfolk raves with “banter” what could be viewed as aggressive (especially when directed at folk in uniforms doing their job) and these sorts of situations aren’t the time for banter.
BTW the discussion documents for the licensing conditions are on the Breckland Council website in various places (google will drag them up…) it was this or no rave.
I find it a bit disappointing Gavin or whoever is in charge hasn’t made a comment to the Press – he needs to be as ready to deal with “bad news” as good news. A simple message of sympathy to the person in hospital and a note of thanks and respect to the Anglia One crew, Eastamb and NNUH would have helped their image.
Its not even that bad as people keel over at social events all the time – to put things in perspective there were 4 arrests at the Pink concert at the footy ground in Ipswich earlier this year, all for violence/anti-social behaviour and it was supposed to be a family event where drug use would not have been normal?
I didn’t go to the rave, as I mentioned it was far away and TBH I’ve lost touch with a lot of my younger friends, but I did make a donation to the Air Ambulance.
If UT makes a profit I’d suggest they do similar, even if they make a loss people should give some cash out of their own pockets as it looks like they saved a mans life…
