I moved 200 miles from SE England to East Anglia in 2006 and had to make all new friends almost like I’d just started high school again in a new area – an upheaval like this isn’t psychologically easy in your mid thirties!
But this forum helped me meet loads of people.
At this point I’d also say be realistic about the free party scene – in some areas it has run its course for the moment due to a backlash from the majority of people what don’t participate (I don’t even mean cops, just normal folk who are cross about parties in their neighbourhood).
I saw my own local scene go from a party every weekend to cops busting them hard every time, my new friends being arrested, having several grands worth of sound equipment confiscated and crushed, and two of them even serving prison time – worse still more because others with less to lose started throwing stuff at coppers!
At that point its understandable not everyone wants to jepoardise loads of their money plus their liberty/future career prospects for a few hours of weekend fun, (particularly those in their mid 20s upwards who may now have careers and even families) so less raves happen. That doesn’t mean there aren’t other opportunities to socialise.
Since zero tolerance and the decimation of EA’s once thriving free party scene a lot of my new local friends I met via this site no longer post on here much (although some still do), but they have still remained good friends.
