  • Today I learned that I officially decided on saving up money to travel over seas to Iquitos, Peru to experience the ayahuasca spirit retreat ceremonies. I’ve been depressed for quite some time now and just need to unwind when I have vacation from work and the money to travel for the first time.
7 Day Authentic Ayahuasca Retreat in Iquitos, Peru | Kapitari

I learnt through some divine intervention, that Im rushing a situation that I really have no control over.Ive been playing an infinite game of chess,my term for our on again/off again relationship of 30yrs,with a lady.We met at age 12 and it was onnnnn from there.Right now we are of course off again but Ive been getting just as frustrated with her total lack of understanding and fighting a situation we both know will fix itself in due time.I was made aware of my pushing too hard is pushing her away.So I need to calm my ways down and let the situation handle itself as it has in the past. This is where I go into checkmate as she is the queen in this chess game and queen does anything she wants. Its still a long story but I was given affirmation that its gonna be ok.

Brown Bears (U. Arctos) have returned to Austria; although only about 10 in number they are right in the middle of one of the main tourist areas and causing some Angst by eating peoples donkeys and scaring hikers (the Professor in the second article does say the encounter the young lad had is not particularly dangerous and it wasn’t the largest of bears).

Maybe this is tolerated/encouraged by the local Council (even in the main tourist areas) to discourage people from smoking Cigarettes (cheaper than neighbouring countries in the EU) as you have to be fit enough to be quicker than the bear(s) and if you don’t go around taking the mickey out of any bald Jewish or Middle Eastern visitors you are safe :laugh_at: The rest of the refugees already have similar numbers (if not more) bears in their home countries and they are preferable to everyone shooting each other/being bombed from above…

The local authorities and wildlife protection units are testing a Canadian design of trash container (wheelie bin) just in case…

Although AT might be bear-tolerant, one thing they do not like is any radio station playing the German version of “Ring, Ring by Abba” at a time when the Kinder might hear it. Not because its contents are rude or anything like that but the chorus is

    Ring, Ring
Vierzehn Null Zieben Null Zwei (140702)
    Ring, Ring
    Telefonier, es ist frei….. (uzw)

Which kids are likely to hear and try and dial on any telephone they can find; dialling 140 in AT is an emergency call to the Bergrettungsdienst/ Alpine Mountain Rescue.

At least Bears with GSM collars (these do exist, they are linked to a GPS and can text the wildlife monitoring with the location of the bear) usually cannot dial out numbers themselves and presumably inbound calls go straight to voicemail so the bears aren’t woken during hibernation (or that would be against EU animal protection rules)

WTF GL, you can dial a bear?

theoretically yes if it has a GSM collar with SIM, as it will be provided with a MSISDN (a mobile phone number). I think they work via coded text messages; there’s a lot of telemetry kit which woorks in this manner.

    Uhm not a lot really
Seems that a lot of places lack of mdma while my town is full of it haha
And i learned about this forum i guess. Today was a resting day hihi

Are they keeping track of them as a safety percaution because as populated as mainland Europe is people probably can run up on a bear quite easily, no? No one in a million years would think about tagging bears with collars for this purpose in the western USA or especially not Alaska!

It is done to check where they are going and to keep the bears safe – mostly from fast motor traffic (which is equally likely to be unpleasant for the driver and passengers.

Bears, if given enough room and food are not especially dangerous to humans even if they are large and scary; and very few people are attacked by them. There was a stage where the Japanese were for some reason regularly being attacked by the Asian Black Bear but the remaining ones are now finally working out how to live in peace with it.

and in Malaysia within the space of a decade the small but “fierce” Sun Bear had become tame enough for middle aged couples to be keeping them as pets – although against CITES wildlife protection laws and it causes problems when the couple reach their senior age; seniors homes can cope with a few cats or dogs but not bears. Many such animals have been sent to UK zoos as the Asian zoos are full up with them already,..

Bear monitoring does also (understandably) seem to be popular in Northern European countries where they invented the GSM mobiles and there are more female Professors (bears have a matriarchal society). An old Germanic given name for girls was/is Ursula (which means a she-bear). I think Canada does do it as well – they also count the geese every so often.

There are good reasons for doing this as its also an opportunity to check for any nasty chemical contamination in the woods and rural areas.

Norway’s Environment ministry has a target to release 13 x breeding pairs of bears into their woods every year. Of course bears do not care for border controls; so they get into many nearby nations. Some newer EU nations like RO are full of bears anyway, a chap at work once told me* “in my village, they cut all the tree….and now we have bear in the street, it raid our trash containers.”

That is all very cool, mammals have pretty large brains and the bears that can’t cope with or are violent towards humans are going to get culled by natrual selection and it seems like at this point in our planets history natural selection is going quicker than it once did.

Wouldn’t want to run up on a Grizzly in the wild, I have extended family that are big into the outdoors and have, but in North America a Moose is still the baddest MF’er around as far as being dangerous to people.

As far as I know we monitor bears somewhat and they do get into trash from time to time but people like to hunt them when legal as hunting is integral to many gun subcultures in America so we don’t have what they’ve got in RO and some other places. Also our environmental protections aren’t up to snuff with northern Europe in some respects.
