Sup. Been looking at Vinpocetine recently; very interesting indeed.
1) nootropic (though mild) – prolongs neuron life, and is a neuro-vasodilator so unlike say yer average stim short term and long term memory is actually improved. It’s main use at the moment is for those with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s and has had a reasonable rate of success in halting or slowing neurologically degenerative diseases.
2) Rochester University studies have indicated that it’s mechanism of action is applicable (essentially BK(ca) channel at intra-cellular level) to inflammatory diseases and has been indicated for potential use as a specific NSAID – specifically for rheumatoid arthritis, crohn’s disease (my vested interest) and also by my own hunches that I’ve been exploring on behalf of a freind’s brother – Muscular Dystrophy and potentially other degenerative diseases.
Kinda in the same boat as the racetams but this looks cleaner and it’s mechanism of action is actually understood.
