Phallostethus cuulong is a species of priapum fish. It was discovered in 2009 and described in 2012. This species is found at depths of 0.5 to 3.5 metres (1.6 to 11 ft) in tidal canals on the Mekong Delta. This species attains a length of about 25 millimetres (0.98 in) SL and is colored translucent white. It has its gonads under its chin – along with a serrated saw and rod for grasping females.[1]
sounds like it would be perfectly at home in East Anglia..
there are around 22 other similar species of fish in SE Asia but not all with testicles in this unusual position – its possible that the South Park creators knew of a similar one. Trey Parker has a University degree in Japanese and would thus encounter this sort of natural history article on his studies.
