@process – did you check your plumbing? I’ve lived in Thames Water area which is also hard water but never seen anything this bad. Also if the road has been up near where you live because of water company working on pipes this can happen…
plumbing seems fine to me, but then im no plumber so no idea tbh, but spoke to my mate and he said that they do have problems with this sort of thing in this area. is only apparent once you have boiled it and made a cup of tea tho… looks like there is a wierd film on it and this is using a clean pan and clean cup and different types of teas so is definatly the water doing it…

are you drawing the water from the downstairs kitchen tap, and if you open up the under sink cupboard what is there? is there a big stop tap below the feed to the cold water?
mains water is usually about 3-5 bar pressure and storage water 1 bar pressure (there is a big and obvious difference)

yeah downstairs and no theres no stop tap.. no idea where that is.. all there is is some flexi pipes that go straight into back wall..

maybe its one of them houses where they use the outdoor stop tap to isolate the rising main – but it looks like some muppets have boxed it in so your cold water could conceivably be coming from anywhere…
does it seem like mains pressure? (NB: to further confuse matters, some areas have a pressure reducer in the kitchen tap so you aren’t drenched when its turned on full)..

yeah seems like the mains, hot tap takes a while to get hot and then you have to keep turning it on more as the hotter it gets the less water comes out for some reason, but apart from that seems fine other than the wierd water…
Best water I’ve drank was in France. My uncles place has it’s own water supply (think it’s a spring or well, something like that, not sure really) and it is very nice. Has a real fresh taste to it.
Will have to ask him what it actually is next time I see him! 😉
I often drink tap water, but it is not good thing that drink water with out filtration.
Water with out filtration may cause disease of the stomach. so always try to drink filter water.
Here in denmark it is illegal to have water that needs cleaning of any kind in the tap…..
generally always drink tap water, mine at home is fine,
and ask for it in restaurants / pub if thirsty as I refuse to pay the prices they put on it
Will only buy bottled water if feeling dehydrated and out and about, or in the van / camping etc, watched a program about its ‘invention’ and ‘creation’ which was really troubling but enlightening -actually might be the program tek tonic has put here
I just got back from Morocco and I am very ill.. I didn’t drink the water at all I must have got it from some food or from brushign my teeth with tap water
when I was little there was a comedy show called “Don’t Drink the Water” which featured Blakey from On The Buses as a English expat living in Spain :laugh_at:
