i have no friends so itll be me and my costume
Yep you certainly dug a hole when u got SD mixed up with DS :laugh_at:
i had a dream about this, and it was 1 dance 1 alternative and a chillout area, i was in the alternative and rock was playing, but i got bored of it, so i went over to the dance and the electronica was the best stuff id ever heard, mujstve been in my mind, strange tho. then went to chill and spent some time with long lost friends in my memory, was a wicked night(in my head) and i hope the real things as good as ma dream. cos iff itttsss notttt…….:laugh_at:
:laugh_at:sure it’ll be as good, great company n great music, makes for both a perfect dream and perfect reality :weee:
didnt catch why we must limit it to 500 people? i think with a fat multirigger we should have as many as we can get our hands on? i find the parties with more people = more fun :group_hug
I think that the TENs means you cant have more than 500 people at the event
Because if we are going to run this properly then we would have to make it licensed to ensure that it goes without a hitch. If it’s in Devon then there will be some people travelling across the entire country to get there, and possibly some people from abroad.
If it’s not licensed then there is a risk it may get shut down and people would have made massive wasted journeys. In addition to this, we could not openly discuss and share ideas about the weekend on here and it would be limited to a few people making decisions in secret which doesn’t seem right considering it’s a board meet up.
One other benefit is that it gives the organisers the opportunity to put a bit of effort it, rather than just turn up and plonk a soundsystem down like most the free party efforts.
To make an entertainments gathering licensed you either need a PEL (massive amounts of organisation, time and money involved) or a TEN (moderate amount of organisation and cheap to apply for)
The TEN is much more viable for this but it does restrict a gathering to 500 people.
All the other suggestions about doing free parties and having a massive multi-rigger are all well and good and people are free to organise these in their own time, but for a gathering such as this it needs to be licensed and in doing so there is no point in having 10+ uber rigs.
welly, could you put whoever has that marquee in touch with us as soon as possible, please?
if you speak to a portaloo company about the quantities of human waste produced by a group of 500 people over 3 days, plus all the people who will have to be in site for several days before and after to set up and pack down, you will find that you will need to dig an enormous hole, or absolutely loads of smaller holes to contain all that
if people are serious about this, and have the timber to construct all these compost loos and are actually going to do it, great. but if it gets to the day before the festival and all the people needed to do that have bunked off, the whole event would be fucked
I’m not sure that any of the landowners I have in mind are going to be totally happy with loads of compost loos being built
if anyone offers marquees big enough, lighting rigs good enough and gennys powerful enough for all the additional stuff like bar, cafe etc. if you read the budget, there is no cost for sound engineers. I’ve allowed £200 per rig for travel expenses and a small gratuity
that is the plan :you_crazy
i know one crew with a geo dome but they charge a lot as they are a real hassle to put together, so it would be looking for land with barns / outbuildings that a bar / cafe could go in
i’m starting to feel like I did the last time we sent a donations bucket around at a free party
is £25 such a lot of money? it’s £8 per day for a wicked event
Rigs wouldnt be a problem there would be lots of people willing to set up! Marquees would be good but arn’t necercerally esseenstial i have had a dance in alot of different conditions! also if this event was to go ahead obvioulsly it would be nice to have some luxurys like toilets(a def if this is to be legal dont want people shitting everywhere!)! But i would want it to have the feel of a free party not a commercial festival! After all it is for a free party forum!
is £25 such a lot of money? it’s £8 per day for a wicked event
i’ll happily pay that sorta money, glasto cost me £150 and i bet i’ll have a better time at this party (even tho glasto was good, i was ill)
i’d keep that price, people have plenty of warnin to get that small amount of money!
