only joking guy
I HAVE NO JOB AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHA
DOLE CLASS!!!!:laugh_at:
i get paid fuck all but i’ll manage to get there. i’ll just have to resist spendin my wages all on music, drugs and music for about a month 😉
Think thats us but I’ll speak to him this week. Theres a few others that I know of but likewise with us they would want bring rigs, cafes ect.
You can get a 12 by 6 metre canvas ex army one for £750-1000 ours was alot less but wee struck lucky at an auction.
Personally (as I said before ) I dont think it is bad at all – bearing in mind what needs to be organised,
I mean how many of us have paid double / tripple for a comerscially organised event?
Personally I can get through double this (and some) on 1 night out in London, not even taking travel expences into count!!
If we are talking about this event going on next year – I’m sure people could put by some money each month to go if they really wanted to and there will be others offering lifts / meet ups to share petrol / traveling.
yeh id definately get some money together and we’d probly set up a whole 10 car convoy down bury so noone gets left out :group_hug
i’m starting to feel like I did the last time we sent a donations bucket around at a free party
is £25 such a lot of money? it’s £8 per day for a wicked event
➡ The co-op idea means that Glo will be relying on people he has never met in real life to do vital things for him which could lead to him being prosecuted by the authorities if the things dont show/get done.
I can see why he has reservations about this – I know I would too.
:question_I really am beginning to wonder if this meet-up is such a great idea when we already have people whining about the £25 a head cost which [in my opinion and I have experience in this field] is actually too low and we are going to make an overall loss on the event.
How much do you guys spend on your drug of choice on a good weekend? I know from watching mates down the pub that £25 is easily spent and there would be nothing to show for it bar a hangover :you_crazy

I would like to take this opportunity to point out to you that Glo is NOT CHARGING for his time [conservative estimate based on charge rates in other similar fields is £20+ an hour] which he could have done as this project will consume in the region of 1000 hours of his life which he will never get back. That time will comeout of his personal life and will have a direct impact on his family who will miss out on his undivided attention when he is dealing with this TENs :rant:not to mention the inevitable stress he will go through trying to get everything in the right place at the right time.
Its all very well saying it should be cheaper etc etc but at the end of the day when you apply for a license [it would be lunacy to do a meet-up of this nature without one and would mean that those who have to travel in excess of 100 miles wont come in case it gets shut down][:bad_idea: of course if you are local you wont mind but object to paying – whats that? an ‘I am alright jack so screw everyone else’ attitude perhaps?:bad_idea:] you are bound by certain legal requirements as part of the license and they have to be complied with or you can be fined and slammed up.
You know, at the end of the day, there is a very simple solution to this problem. If you cant bear to part with £25 to ensure you can have a pleasant weekend event in a safe enviroment without the threat of the party being shut down if the police find out and the equipment being seized plus the benefits of toilets, a water supply and first aiders on site……DONT COME
putting these events on is hard enough without people bitching about how they could do it better.
In fact I will go one better 💡 – if you think it should be done for nothing then put your money where your mouth is and put on an event yourself :you_crazy:you_crazy

on a weekend of fun, i would easily spend 50 quid if i knew it wasnt gonna get shut down, but i wouldnt spend any more on a weekend party whitch isnt a recognised festival, such as shambala reading glade etc
Fucking hell ill keep my nose out in future! I dont mind paying £25, i was just offering help and wanting to get involved.
Well said Raj. 8)
I think an unlicensed party is a bad idea for this. With a little money (£25 is fck all) time and planning (respect to Globaloon for offering his time) this could be a really great event with a really good (party)vibe.
KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid
Glo’s idea of a couple of stages and a cafe area would be much easier to organise than some multi-rig event with loadsa random crews. Throw in the threat of police shutting it down and things are gonna get complicated. An event with 500 people max seems like a really feasible idea, im confident it would be an excellent festival if done in this way. raaa
Yep £25 aint much,
An 1/8th of green, pint and a packet of crisps and your already at £25!
Paying £25 to go to an event for 3 days would bother me in the slightest (infact i would probably pay more if i had to).
If its a problem getting £25 together put a few £’s here and there aside and you will have more than enough.
Things aren’t free to run, even this site costs to run……………
that will eat up the grand I thought we had left (assuming we can seel all 500 tickets and no crew or staff get a free one
hmmm, that doesn’t leave anything for insurance, which will easily be about £3000
We got 2 lasers we use for our free parties which we will also be happy to bring (obviously) – 1 is 100mW green and looks like it could cut you in half, and the other is 150mW green/red, and does yellow by mixing the 2.
Although free festivals and partys are fun, putting on an event by donations only does not cover costs. The Beltain fire festival in Edinburgh used to be free and attended every year by thousands. However even though they had stewards at every entrance and exit with big donations buckets. The average donation per person was thirteen and a half pence. This did not cover the costs of the festival and after a year of not putting it on they decided that they would have to charge for it. The first year they charged it was only £2:50 and people complained, but it was well worth the money and a great night.
(This event is for thousands and only lasts a few hours in the middle of Edinburgh on Beltain each year)
When you think how much it is to stay in a campsite for the weekend and the fact that you will also get entertainment, a water supply, toilets, stewards and firstaiders £25 is a great deal.
I am a first aider if you want me to do a shift in the first aid tent over the weekend I will be happy to do so and will still expect and be happy to pay £25 to gain entry
Even free partys are only free to the people who blag lifts, To move a rig costs money in van hire, petrol and diesel for the generator which half the time you end up having to hire. Free partys are a labour of love for so many of us with constant outlay and little back but we do them because we love to. Remember this next time you see a donation bucket going round a free party near you and maby try to give a bit more generously.
I’d happily pay 25 quid for a weekend of quality music, it sounds like a great idea, and I’ll gladly help with setting up/digging toilets/whatever/de-rigging at the end of the event. If you need a sound engineer for any bands etc I’d be happy to do that too (providing i can get time off work next year).

innit, also as an open public site, i dont see how we could organise an illegal do without the cops findin out
nice one btw raj raaa
anyone interested in a coach from yorkshire? there’s plenty of us on here i think.

true that
to persuade a landowner and the council / cops to allow and TEN licensed event to go ahead, it needs to be like that. i’d love to throw a massive multi-rigger but to do that legally it would likely become something like glade festival to organise, and they had massive problems getting a PEL
