for the sake of the environment, i’ll try and sort out (for a small extra fee) a minibus to take people to and from the nearest national trainline / coach station

    yay – go glo!:bounce_fl :bounce_fl :bounce_fl :bounce_fl

hang on – when is this going to be?

and (depending upon date) is anyone up for sorting a kids space with me?

nothing definite datewise, but i think a bank holiday weekend would be good for people travelling long distances

a kids space is a must. there are some great local artists / music groups that might be up for running stuff (if their expenses are covered). if not, at least a sandpit, some art materials or something would be needed

    Sounds well exciting so far!

and cmon guys 25 quid for a properly organised party is like … nothing!!!

i’m a bit late to this thread, but i would back the general ‘keep it legal’ mood. I appreciate AHC’s point about movin away from the free ethos that we all love, but if people are travellin so far, and bookin time off work, it would be tragic if it got shut down.

as Tank Girl will testify, we’ve already been to an event similiar to the one proposed, it was called the 7th sun festival

    http://www.7thsunfestival.com/What%27s_On/

it was 500 peeps (licensing and all!), £35 for 3 days, although the toilets became unusable by about 5am sunday morning… 3 rigs, security by v tired and mashed volunteers. It was absolutely wicked, a 3 day free party wi’out the stress of the fuzz shuttin u down… party heaven!

but is anyone really prepared to do the security, for definite, on the 3rd day…cos if we are not, it’d be better to fess up now.

My understanding (feel free to contradict me), is that you need £2k for the license, but if you fail to satisfy the licensing peeps, you still have to pay 1500 squids…

So if we are gonna do it, we have to do it properly… I would be happy to contribute anythin i can, i’ve been a techie (theatre, music, alot of lighting experience) for many years. and i also have a brother in law who runs a 6000 capacity weekender (Summer Sundae at De Montfort Hall in Leicester) which has won several awards over the last few years, i’m sure he’d happily run an eye over the license application, if we have any questions.

I’ve got access to a generator (1.4k) and an ice machine, if that helps…raaa raaa raaa raaa raaa raaa raaa raaa

    It worked at 7th sun…

But we have more experience, on PV, of puttin on a decent party, than most groups could dream of… and with the goodwill expressed on this thread anything, up to 500 peeps, is possible.

    Anyway, drunk but enthusiastic. :crazy_dru

    Well said Raj…
i d pay £25.. hope it comes together raaa

Hi peeps, this all sounds good !

£25 a small price to pay for a good gathering –

I can ask some of the local sound systems if they would help ? one of them has a 35K system ?

Has anyone decided on location ? –

It would be great to put faces to names ! – SJ – Well they are well versed and founded in the organisation of FP’s ! what does everyone else think ?

on a weekend of fun, i would easily spend 50 quid if i knew it wasnt gonna get shut down, but i wouldnt spend any more on a weekend party whitch isnt a recognised festival, such as shambala reading glade etc

As many people have already said if we follow the legal path to the bitter end (depsite the fact that it goes against the grain for many of us FP followers) it would of course put our minds at rest, this is gonna take some organising, a lot of people going to a lot of effort, so lets get it right…

Like I said I can ask two local systems for support….Lighting, sound, rigging, staging and so on….

Regarding Landowners, in my experience most farmers are approachable…?

➡ The co-op idea means that Glo will be relying on people he has never met in real life to do vital things for him which could lead to him being prosecuted by the authorities if the things dont show/get done.
I can see why he has reservations about this – I know I would too.

:question_I really am beginning to wonder if this meet-up is such a great idea when we already have people whining about the £25 a head cost which [in my opinion and I have experience in this field] is actually too low and we are going to make an overall loss on the event.
How much do you guys spend on your drug of choice on a good weekend? I know from watching mates down the pub that £25 is easily spent and there would be nothing to show for it bar a hangover :you_crazy

I would like to take this opportunity to point out to you that Glo is NOT CHARGING for his time [conservative estimate based on charge rates in other similar fields is £20+ an hour] which he could have done as this project will consume in the region of 1000 hours of his life which he will never get back. That time will comeout of his personal life and will have a direct impact on his family who will miss out on his undivided attention when he is dealing with this TENs :rant:not to mention the inevitable stress he will go through trying to get everything in the right place at the right time.

Its all very well saying it should be cheaper etc etc but at the end of the day when you apply for a license [it would be lunacy to do a meet-up of this nature without one and would mean that those who have to travel in excess of 100 miles wont come in case it gets shut down][:bad_idea: of course if you are local you wont mind but object to paying – whats that? an ‘I am alright jack so screw everyone else’ attitude perhaps?:bad_idea:] you are bound by certain legal requirements as part of the license and they have to be complied with or you can be fined and slammed up.

You know, at the end of the day, there is a very simple solution to this problem. If you cant bear to part with £25 to ensure you can have a pleasant weekend event in a safe enviroment without the threat of the party being shut down if the police find out and the equipment being seized plus the benefits of toilets, a water supply and first aiders on site……DONT COME
putting these events on is hard enough without people bitching about how they could do it better.
In fact I will go one better 💡 – if you think it should be done for nothing then put your money where your mouth is and put on an event yourself :you_crazy:you_crazy

Raj, I could not have put it better myself !! I back every last word.

£25 is more than reasonable price but why not everyone buy tickets so 500 are sold no devide between people helping and those just coming for the weekend. The only advantage that those working would get is turning up early and finding the best spot to put their tent.
Everyone should be encouraged to help out, many years ago i went to a free festi and the last band started ranting about the mess and refused to play untill the area in front of the stage was cleaned up. After a while and bin bags dished out everything was picked up.

25 quid is as cheap as fuck it aint even half a G of sniff which would be gone in an hour I cant believe that anybodies moaned about it:you_crazy I know people that have put that amount in the petrol tanks of there cars to drive to a party and when theve got there it aint happend at least for the tiny amount of 25Pound here its gonna be definately on and on for 3 daysraaa :crazy_dru :crazy_diz

glo do you think the council will grant the TEN for definite?
