Wow great idea, I imagine the oxo flavour over powers the disgusting taste of them.
Normally we just used to either eat them fresh after removing the stalks or brew tea from them.
Unluckily for me my body seems to have taken a real aversion to them. Everytime I eat them now I throw them back up almost immediately.
And the oxo trick sounds like a real winner, great idea, good shout mate…

Yeah a couple of oxo cubes thrown into the brew and you don’t get that horrible ‘earthy’ taste. Actually it just tastes like a hot oxo drink.
To the peeps that just eat them ‘raw’; do you eat the maggots (that always seem to accompany the mushys) as well?:groucho: :groucho:
P.S. I usually drain the whole brew through a ladies (unworn) stocking and then there’s still enough potency in the shrooms for at least another brew.

eating them raw might mean the occasional maggot, but if you’re careful not to pick and that are rotting or on the turn, this shouldn’t be a problem (and you won’t get stomach cramps by discarding any that are past their best)

i’ve always eaten them fresh and never caught worms from doing so

as i said before, by drying, boiling freezing etc you are losing some of the active ingredients

I always found they were most potent when eaten fresh, but I still used to pull the stalks off as they were the vomit inducers for me…

the stalks can also contain stryctnine, apparently

thas a shame.. was a bit quiet… loads of regulars were down the locks for the launch of the new cycle rickshaw taxi along the river… the were bands, shows, juggling etc

so you didn’t miss too much… we’re there most sunday nights, though i’m away for the next 2 weekends

We left the cinema at about 11.15 but by the time we walked up there it must have been 11.45 and we walked by the paddy wagon had just arrived so I guess it kicked off earlier but there was pints of blood close to the tesco
