there are LOADS of mushrooms around. found a chanterelle and some ceps at the weekend, and tons of slippery jacks. but none of the magical stuff!

i wasnt sure about the 2nd picture either some one had told me they where liberty caps but i wasnt going to risk it, i think the mushrooms in the second pic are the same mushrooms you find in your garden ive seen looads of them so far this season. i’m gonna go hunting again at the weekend to see what i can see, we’ve had some real misty mornings the last few days, a real low mist that lies on the ground.
maybe global warming has summit to do with the lack of shroomage, we used to get loads up here but the last couple of years have been week in comparison, the place i used to go picking was perfect, a massive playing field flat as a pancake and the ground is always moist there cos its beside a river, its a shame the local chavs got at it the wee feckers.

from ur experience would say that playing fields/golf courses are better than fields/meddows for finding libertys ??

there a shocking lack of medows round here but yeh definatly, i hate saying this but where iv found deer, iv found liberty caps, i dont like playing feilds cause they get used to much and farm feilds are often treated with chemicals which is a no go for liberty caps, so natural environments where the grass isnt outragously long , dog walking spots, nature reserve type places are my stomping grounds, i havnt even started this year though im suprised anyone has tell me when u find a nice crop cause then ill rush out!

I’ve had most luck with cow and horse fields, not so much with sheep.
I suppose theres other factors.

I’d say no, I wouldn’t eat them. Where i work theres loads of mushrooms out loads look like liberty caps but non are.
It is not yet mushroom season.
give it a couple of months:wink:
