Dude sweet. I aint got a car though. Where abouts do you live? Thanks for the im btw.

i dont know how much of a good idea putting the locations of illegal plants on the internet is, however sweet it may seem to be able to get hold of such a map. it should be allowed, but it isnt. i’ll leave it up cos im sure this isnt the onl forum with it on, so the damage is potentially done, but im glad none of the sites i know about are on there, cos i’d be pissed off.

it is ridiculous that the government has made natural plants illegal, especially ones which are native to this country, unlike opium poppies, cacao and cannabis. it just shows how far “out of time with the beat of universal riddim”, we are. “in our quests to be the rulers of the moon and the stars, lost this syncapated riddim of this planet ofours” as rodney p has it.

AFAIK maps like these pre-date the anti-shroom laws and started being put up on the net a few years ago. Of course the predictable happened ; every kid with a net connection swarmed on the area and picked the place clean (and destroyed the eco-system that creates the shrooms – i think you have to leave some behind, or flick them to spread the spores or something like that – any hippies about who know more about this?)

there isn’t much danger to the webmaster even today as they could argue “we are warning people of where dangerous poison mushrooms may be found” ..

but theres the risk of alerting the antis or landowners who then destroy the crops – and is the odd chance a bobby or two may be in the vicinity of sites near public rights of way, as they often enforce the traffic resrtrictions (against dirt bikers and 4x4s) at weekends.

yea, flicking the caps before you pick em, or kind of wiping the picked shroms a bit on the grass will spread the spores for next years harvest, and leaving a few is just respectful.

appart from that, i thin shroom picking is pretty low-impact on the environment so long as you park sensibly.

this is what the govts advice is:

Countryside Code – advice for the public

Be safe – plan ahead and follow any signs
Leave gates and property as you find them
Protect plants and animals, and take your litter home
    Keep dogs under close control
    Consider other people”

as is no suprise, theyre a bit over cautious. i mean what is the point of taking you dog to the contry if you dont let him leg it about? the rest is all pretty much common sense, tho.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR HARVESTERS AND CONSERVATIONISTS

better to pick your mushrooms by twisting the whole stem and root out of the ground

anyone that has cultivated will know that this strenthens the mycelium (the below-surface stucture that supports new growth) and brings a stronger second flush (layman’s terms; more mushrooms tomorrow)

then, carry them around in a wicker basket (like your gran used for shopping). this spreads the spores around

that ‘flick and pick’ is a very limited way to encourage new growth

    no way

mushrooms are vital to life on earth

    read this…

    Quote:
Tony Drakeford, of the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators, said: “If it was not for mushrooms and fungi, life could not exist as we know it.”

Mr Drakeford, conservators vice-chairman, told BBC News of the importance of saving mushrooms.

“They recycle basic nutrients essential to all plant growth and they have a symbiotic relationship – in other words, you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.

“The trees take in the nutrients essential to tree growth through their roots and they give back to the fungi sugars so they can exist as well.”

He said he was happy for people to pick a few for their own use and carry them in an open garden basket, as this allows the spores to spread.

    this is true and factual
