  • That’s Halloween for ya lol

Stratford’s only a few stops on the train for me as well. For those not from London, it can be one of them places where you wanna get to the place and leave with out hanging about on the streets to much at night though, especially on Halloween where there’s a bit of anonymity with the fancy dress thing.

What if we met at a pub, had a couple…went there (and it finishes at six)
Il probably stay till six then get a train home in the morning…although the after parties two minutes away.

    i’s likes neelix… looks a tasty line up… afterparty at daft’s! 🙂

I usually do a halloween party at mine,
am thinking of doing one this yr, but my van got done over last time as I wouldnt let some people in

    so not sure,

I’m not one for london party’s but thank you for the invite !! 🙂

    thats well bad! 🙁
I don’t normally go to london parties but going to be different this year 🙂

Its now £40 to get the train FFS… thats about 40% rise in 6 years since I moved out of SE England…

This isn’t the fault of the Dutchies who now own our trains but the UK Govt who nick the rest of the money and subsidise the younger folk in middle class bits of London and SE England to get cheaper travel so they can work in London, whilst the slightly richer older ones many of whom live up here swallow the cost as they see it as the price of moving to places like Mid Suffolk..

Yeah might be a good idea, not sure of any decent pubs in stratford, I’m inclined to suggest one a few train stops away. There’s nice ones in snaresbrook or south woodford, it’s a much nicer atmosphere there then I’d imagine it would be in a stratford pub. We could go the other way more into london as well and mby go liverpool street first, but it’s probably more expensive to drink there.

    It’s tempting. 😛

especially as the pubs are going to be full of the sort of idiot who willingly pays £79 for a return ticket at peak time (a £40 one would not allow them to board a train reaching London for a 9am start) and puts up with a near 2 hour journey from Suffolk to London each weekday (people actually do this!)

O.o It costs me 2-3 times more to get a train to the north then it does to drive in peak times (although I’d never fancy driving in peak times)!

Even allowing for euro conversions, across the sea the same £40 would take me and my bike from Hoek van Holland to Groningen (from where I could ride into DE if I so wished). For £80 I could at the very least go on a mini tour of DE and NL, or maybe even go and see !sinner69! (but I would have to find a hotel in Köln).

I am still yet to get to the stage where I feel happy about doing more than 45 on the rural roads (if you ever drive round here you will see why) and got cramp in my knee on this weeks manoeuvre practices (so I bumped the kerb on a 3 point turn). Any suggestions how to stop this for us shorter blokes? Probably will be staying relatively sober for halloween and reading books about road signs, which way to turn the steering wheel when going backwards (which I forget) and obscure bits of UK traffic law TBH :laugh_at:

It cost me lest for my (return) flight to denmark! :laugh_at:

do the dutch own network rail?

no, only Greater Anglia (a bit of the Eastern region). The UK Government own Network Rail, it was bought back after the private sector couldn’t make it work.

20 years ago trains weren’t as pretty or clean but they were affordable across the UK and there were no worse cancellations/overcrowding at peack times than today.

If there was a legal halloween party in EA what played music I liked I’d go to it but there is a lack of suitable venues at the moment.
