GONNA TRY TO GET TO MY WIFE BACK
if she still wants from me….
unidentified pirate broadcaster on Band II 87,5 MHz FM playing mixed soulful house – must be quite local [although there is a slight atmospheric lift that makes signals go further]
Signal seems a bit stronger than just the €6 China “mini TX” that they sell in many shops in Europe – might be over the border in Essex or in town – not close enough to check if they are sending RDS or stereo but I can work out roughly what direction the TX is from so I might soon get on my bike an do a bit of the old “tally-ho” 😉
Unfortunately I cannot upload a youtube of monitoring as its supposedly illegal to listen to pirates here and the Ofcom man knows exactly where I live.
I do however actually have a license valid for two adjacent frequencies [although last time anyone used them was about 15 years ago] so its not illegal for me to be “checking for interference” [TBH I’ve got an idea who might be doing it anyway so will most likely be able to warn them before they get into any real bother raaa ]
unfortunately they turned off the TX just as I was getting on my bike; I unwisely thought it was warm enough to go without my gloves and also found the PWM controller and lights emit a rough signal also at 87,5 Mhz (so I would only be able to track the signal in daylight). Did manage to test some other radio equipment though but it looks like my UHF antenna will need to go high up the roof space; and I must check where Sudbury is transmitting TV so I don’t cut across the telly for half the neighbourhood with my transmiters :laugh_at:
Hey GL, I have to come and meet you, you are an outstanding man and I bet you are lots of fun. Even if you are mental.
