    Colin Thubron ‘Among The Russians’ – written back in 1982 when Communism was still in full effect

    Young Officers Reading Club, cant say its very good though cant stand the way its written.

    I’m probably going to get slated for this, normally do. I read all three, and didn’t really enjoy them. Largely for the same reasons you have just noted lol.

    i’m reading “the wonders of the universe” based on the tv show with brian cox 🙂 or is the other way around? i don’t know but it’s fascinating. but i love that kind of stuff.

    yes and I loved it! this was the motivation to read lord of the rings when a little older, but for me turned into a bit of a battle with long winded guff about this person and that. . but then could say the same about war and peace, and i’m not going to start slating that 🙂

    p.s. brian cox is a leg end

    It takes a bit of effort to read but it’s well worth it in the end mate. 🙂

    One of the few books I have given up reading its written so badly and its content so flipping obvious. Sherlock Holmes is my next book
