nothing unmasculine about pyjamas (it is only recently that gender specific variants have become popular). They were originally invented by the Muslim communities in IN/PK/BD and in their original form were suitably modest and intended for both genders to wear – and useful in areas where it gets colder than you might think at night time + there are biting insects. It is not surprising they made their way to Northern Britain (I recently read that the Scottish midgies are crossing the border due to global warming..)
