At least though I am keeping the other medications for bedtime; I can remember in the 1980s when Dad got his diazepam in the medium size brown dispensing bottle (120 or 240 a time) and smoked nearly 20 a day,with those amounts few bother counting them (even those of Chinese / German / Danish Dutch ancestry (who often do hard maths for just for fun), so during hard times I could borrow a few.
Dad took something like 50mg per day, held down two jobs, drove hundreds of kilometres and never crashed [for some reason although he was not afraid of heavy work he hated walking] and still got us all up early for Mass on Sundays (at least during the height of his benzo consumption)
Mum did force him to cut down on the cigs due to his health and that of me and my sister [he was banished to the WC to smoke] but he kept with the benzos [to be fair they did help with various other health problems he had for many years].
Incidentally I never heard Dad pray at home; mum did although silent prayer is also permitted for Catholics if its inconvenient or unsafe to do so ; perhaps he also did that in the WC (there is no sin in doing so – Muslims actually regularly pray every time they go!)
I expect he has by now been sent up to teach the young angels Maths and Geography [so they fly to the correct places] as that was his first job in Malaya; possibly working at the same type school as Mum [they met in a teacher training college and married at a conveniently nearby Catholic church].
So if he can get cigarettes at all; most likely via Chinese and Irish maintenance workers from Purgatory or bikers he would still end up furtively smoking in the WC with some of the other teachers (probably an outdoor type due to the smoking ban) and be cursing “bladibarsket” [a mild Malaysian curse word] as the protection-angels have swiped and hidden most of their lighters :laugh_at:
