gonna have to stick with shambala and boomtown methinks. i hear boomtown is full of scallies is this true?
I’m really excited for Latitude this year actually. I think it’s such a nice atmosphere it’s so relaxing and the scenery/decor is always top even if it is full of rich 6 form girls and boys! haha

hmm, the same festival with currently two outstanding/unsolved rape allegations? (I’ve ommitted the one what turned out to be a false allegation) and because of this feds both uniform and covert crawling all over the place (though can’t blame them for being there, they are needed).
I live on an urban estate in Ipswich which doesn’t have the best reputation but there are now less crimes on it than at these music events, the ones in Norfolk are even worse like kiss weekender where that girl got raped and the prime suspect committed suicide in prison so she didn’t even get to see justice done.
OK in 2012 no one got raped this time (probably because feds and security working together to keep everyone safe) but I was in our local supermarket a few days after – and there were all these youths from my estate talking about it who had clearly saved up to go there from their jobs in shops, bars etc as its not cheap and they had heard “it was fun and safe” but had left early because they saw loads of fights and arrests and it had made them uncomfortable. (I was quite shocked myself to hear this and felt a bit sorry for them TBH).

it has a reputation for being “more tolerant for drugs” than the other “hippy” festivals as festival hippies are getting older these days, half of them are older than me, and are now para about their teenage kids being exposed to the same drugs they did themseves in their youth
so if there are genuine problems the problem might be said scallies feel they have a free reign because the crowd are on drugs and won’t grass to security or coppers, unlike a festival full of middle aged Guardian reading hippys who still believe in the rule of law and democracy and turn a blind eye to the stewards detaining a scally with eco-friendly appropriate force (bashing them a bit with one of them whittled sticks that hippys like making?) and handing them over to the friendly politically correct bobby…
but it need not be full of scallies if whoever is promoting/organising it employs stewards and security with both cojones and brain cells (its not impossible to have both). Also if the local bobby has real criminals to deal with then they might not be so bothered about nicking people for being full of pills and powders unless they are driving…
on this note nearly all medium size festivals have a traffic control where the cops check for DUI, safe driving etc… (they do use them covert cars with the cameras in)- its partly a way of training officers in a less confrontational environment, but given they will attract young/new drivers often on their first long drive with passengers I can’t really blame the old bill for doing this..
