Hahaha that article is hilarious! “However, I realise retrospectively that the sight of two acidy youths walking militantly through the night clutching large, dangerous objects is not a sight often associated with love.”
Well true though, the amount of funny stuff I’ve done on drugs. I think this calls for a new thread.
I’m sure someone recently started a ‘stupid shit you’ve done on drugs’ thread mate, can’t remember who though. Maybe Barrettone or know_hope?

Ha ha, cheers man, good read ain’t it?
I wonder how many employers actually check these things, I could write A’s here or on my CV and who’s to know if Im telling the truth……… Is there some kind of online register where employers can search for your results ???
Mine weren’t A’s, just B’s, C’s & D’s, which wasnt bad considering how much school I missed, and how little effect I put in

The examining bodies do keep a record of them but its up to the candidate to get the copies if they have gone missing. Employees who take on post GCSE or A level candidates usually ask for the certificates at interview, for bigger employers and at University level they can and do check with the exam boards (which are affiliated to the big Universities anyway). In the small print of your application is usually a clause authorising the prospective employer/educator to check your personal data (though it would be seen as perfectly reasonable in Court that they did this).
When I worked for the Civil Service they checked my education records as far back as the last junior school I attended!
I had a look at ofqual and all the old Boards from 25+ years ago were listed there along with their new equivalents so they definitely are stored by the examining boards, presumably on the instruction of the Government. its also classed as a serious criminal offence to get a job by blagging your qualifications as its fraud and prison sentences have been handed out in the past even when the employee could actually do the job! Seen a fair few reports that both Universities and employers do random sample checks even long after someone is on a course or in employment.
when applying for a job today if its more than stacking shelves of horseburger there are usually multiple CV sifting processes and the veracity of the CV is checked, as well as lifestyle screening. TBH even shop work has these checks nowadays as they are easy to do and businesses are frightened of well educated activists trying to infiltrate the staff.
Hmm…

A lot of it is forgotten now, but some stuff helped to just pass a couple of a-levels at college whilst I was getting stoned/chasing girls most of the time, and then get in to uni a couple years later, where what I could remember from English and History about critical thinking and writing essays got me through a degree and a first (though media/communication studies doesn’t have the wow factor of say astro-physics). Jobs wise doesn’t seem to have made much difference at all yet

Sociology- D
Think theres a couple more D’s and E’s but i cant remember what!
In a very similar mindset to a few of you, I preffered holding a joint to holding a pen. First few years of my teenage school life were spent smoking weed and wasting my potential ( i was kinda the ‘cool kid’ of the top set haha) until we actually got our grades and mine were always at least one lower than everyone elses!
