Did usage increase when it became downgraded? I thought everyone already smoked it.

well I haven’t checked the crime stats (which are often flawed anyway) but amongst my own friends I know lots of people who initially smoked way more when it first went class C – and also a lot of people who started smoking, dealing and growing..

the downgrading definitely made it more easily available and increased demand and use in the last area I lived in.

cannabis psychosis (although rarer than the tabloids claim) and psychological addiction is a real problem as well (although IMO I think it is made worse by the paranoia caused by things being illegal). A lot of older users though reduced their intake, but younger peoples use seemed to increase.

True enough, i suppose i do know a couple of people who started growing after it was down graded, Its always been readily available tho’

    Police target large-scale drug works

    MARK NICHOLLS

    26 September 2006 06:45

Illegal cannabis factories in Norfolk are being targeted as part of a national police crackdown on production of the drug.

Launched yesterday, the operation involves 19 police forces in England and Wales including Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, and is expected to last two weeks.

Under the operation, cannabis factories will be traced and closed down by police and the criminal networks which run them disrupted and dismantled.

Norfolk police say that over the past two years cannabis factories have been targeted by Metropolitan police officers with the result that criminals have moved out of the capital to establish them in regional centres.

Det Insp Tony Deacon, who is leading the operation in Norfolk, said: “After the Metropolitan police began an enforcement campaign on these cannabis factories they have dissipated away from the London area into the eastern region. That is the picture we have seen emerging over the past few months.”

Det Insp Deacon said that criminals had been moving into places such as Norwich, paying over the odds to rent a property and setting up a cannabis factory.

Officers are now looking for public help in identifying these premises and also seeking to work with letting agents on the issue.

If undetected, cannabis factories can run for around 12 months. In this time, they have a potential to make about £250,000 from the production of cannabis.

The signs people should look out for that may indicate a cannabis factory is operating in a property are: curtains constantly closed; a lot of noise when someone moves into a property, but afterwards no one seems to be living there; a strange smell; paper put up inside the windows; excess heat; condensation on the windows or even the brickwork of the house.

Despite the campaign launch yesterday, Norfolk police have already raided some properties, in King’s Lynn and most recently in St Martins Road, Norwich, where they found 400 plants and a sophisticated operation to produce and supply the Class C drug.

And earlier this month at Norwich Crown Court Paul Clarke and Sandra Clarke were jailed for 26 weeks after buying a £100,000 home on a buy-to-let mortgage in Wortham Close, Norwich, and turning it into a cannabis factory. Sandra Clarke’s sentence was suspended.

The drive to close the cannabis factories will continue after the two-week campaign to raise the profile of the issue and the force is distributing posters and postcards across the county with advice and warning signs to look out for.

The factories are dangerous because they generate a large amount of heat and to evade being found out the electricity is usually bypassed causing a significant fire risk.

Det Insp Deacon continued: “The problem of cannabis factories isn’t unique to Norfolk, but if these factories can be detected the production of cannabis can be reduced and profits taken away from organised crime networks.

“There’s been a big rise in the cultivation of cannabis across the UK and your information could be crucial in putting a cannabis factory or drug dealer out of business.”

The crackdown is targeting the most potent form of cannabis, known as “skunk”, which contains far higher quantities of the chemical THC than herbal or resin-based cannabis.

A crop of 200 plants could produce as much as £30,000 of skunk every three months, meaning the larger factories are capable of producing nearly £500,000 of the drug every year.

Anyone with information should contact Norfolk police on 0845 456 4567 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

I have heard of alot of people being busted recently, i think they are on to something!

It’s very dry in central scotland from west to east. Noone I know can get soap or grass and has been this way for last 6 weeks.

A mate spent £30 on a Q os soap last week!

should we really be discussing which places are getting weed?? the cops are on a misison to get it all, we dont wanna be helpin them out surely???? :you_crazy

we do need to be careful but TBH the regions mentioned are very large and most of the reports of busts are public knowledge anyway; they are in the local newspapers every week..

we may not like it but once again this is as much due to a failure of our communities self-regulation as prohibition.

Putting aside the Vietnamese (who are only responding to market demand) this present backlash has happened because people caned too much starting from a few years ago post-decrim.

the negative effects of cannabis over-use (combined perhaps with those of other drugs) are being felt by wider society in the form of crime, anti-social behaviour and reduced productivity – so others affected by it have called for the clampdown.

I still like a smoke now and then but skunk is definitely stronger and some people do smoke too much of it.

i wasnt so much on about where the was NO weed, more the posts saying that weed is coming back. ??

thought everythin mite have been bk to normal wen i got bk but its gettin worse peps r chargin extortionate prices for shit n punters r payin it!
thank funk for me goodie bag

coke and mdma powder seem to but ruling the drug world at the mo. Many dealers selling weed have quit as a result opting to sell this purely for the money.

It’s dried up around the Midlands again, not completely dry, but requires a mission to find small amounts, which are sold in individual deals. Henry’s going for 25 to 30.

Personally, I’m hoping that with the majority of Universities and Colleges coming back after a long, DRY summer, the trade will start to pick up again.

On a lighter note, before I continue my quest, December is covered, there’s large orders being fulfilled ready for the festive season.

for sure there dangers are with excessive caning and the gov seem to be coming down on this again, but when its easier to score boshing powder than erb:you_crazy

thats the price of the rest of societys prohibition and intolerance.

Weed production requires space, equipment and is easily detected by smell.

Powders are imported (especially in areas near the sea) but once obtained they are easy to hide and produce more reward and less risk.

If someones get caught dealing anything in large quantity they are going to jail, so obviously people think why not try and make as much money as possible? – even if you get a playstation in there now prison is still a shit and boring place to be.

As penalties and crackdowns increase many people who serve up are starting to think its better to be hanged for a sheep than a lamb, although those who party are thankfully unlikely to sell heroin or crack..

the only solution to this is an end to prohibition, and an acceptance by wider society of recreational drug use.

    your gettin skanked mate…..

theres plenty of stuff about you just need to hunt.

I ain’t paid above board on anythin so far.

There is a lot of hype and disinformation going around about the dangers of cannabis; OTOH it still needs to be treated with respect…

this site contains the most accurate and balanced info about cannabis use I have found – its run by people who support free choice rather than cops or government; and everything is explained without resorting to complicated medical jargon….
