fair play mate, although you can’t necessarily use your own negative experiences as as a given for others…

i think it’s ridiculous, all drugs should be decriminalised… you cannot control something that is illegal, so decriminalise and regulate.

takes it out of the hands of gangs and terrorists
stops the danger of adulterated drugs
is not an infringement on basic freedom
and taxing drugs could easily cover any NHS costs.

In an ideal world run by you and me this would happen. however we’re led by bloody morons who don’t know what goes on in the real world therefore it will never happen. Maybe we should try getting into politics and make the change ourselves!?! 😉

whats the chances the ppl makin it illegal have never smoked it or taken the time to get to know ppl who do smoke weed regularly
alchohol is a far worse substance in my opinion…

    Imagine if they did! raaa

The saddest part of this whole thing is there are plenty of Western politicians who have tried drugs at least once, but none of them have the courage or realistically even the power to challenge the current attitudes…

As an example Barack Obama freely admitted to recreational drug use during his high school days, and has advocated a slightly more lenient attitude but as he currently is dealing with more important issues his own government civil servants are dragging their heels and keeping with the old Bush policies..

Even so he still regretted his use – worldwide no aspiring politician other than fringe green / extreme left political parties has had the courage to stand up and say they have no regrets for their drug use – and if/when they do people get so angry they stop voting for them and/or even ask for them to be investigated by the Police!

Also in the East the reason drugs are illegal is due to bitter memories of colonialism.

The British actively traded opiates to East and SE Asia and tolerated recreational drug use in their colonies in order to dumb down the population and make them subservient to their colonial masters, those who are leaders of these nations today were teenagers during colonial days, they aren’t going to forgive and forget.

Been there, also felt like it was ruining my life. In reality, it was contributing to wider problems in my life. I stopped for many years, and now it forms a moderate part of my overall very productive and sucessful life. But I do agree it should be handled with caution.

How many times have we all heard this?

I think it just underlines how detrimental alcohol can be. It’s certainly by no means a justification.

My own personal drive in favour of legalisation is the shady characters we’ve all bought from now and again, either directly or through friends. Ultimately, most people here will have lined the pockets of organised crime at some point, and we are left to deal with -and pay for, the inevitable social problems. But that same argument could also be used in support of crack or heroin. Meh

BBC2 Tues 3rd Feb, 9pm: “Cannabis is the world’s favourite drug, but also one of the least well understood. Can cannabis cause schizophrenia? Is it addictive? Can it lead you on to harder drugs? Or is it simply a herb, an undervalued medicine? Addiction specialist Dr John Marsden discovers that modern science is finally beginning to find answers to these questions. John traces the cannabis plants birthplace in Kazakhstan; finds the origins of our sensitivity to cannabis in the simple sea-squirt; and finds out just what it does to our brains.”

Horizon has been pretty variable in quality in recent years, will this one be a simplistic populist waste of time, will it just let vested interests talk crap without testing their arguments against the evidence, or will it actually look into the questions it poses above ? Only watching it will tell !

i was thinknig the same thing .. some times they can really go into things .. but with drugs and media they can’t say they are good .. asuming that there are possative effects of canabis i doubt they would even be alowed to go into them with much detail as it may come across as pro drugs and i am sure that would not be alowed to get airedon tarestrial tv.

my view on cancabis is that it’s a very dangerous drug with regards to mental health as soo many people think it is harmless and alot of people get messed up because they simpaly “don’t know any better” … hopefully this program does go into the facts as the are and not as they “should be told” and people pay attention to the risks … as i am sure the majority of thre younger smokers will be watching it “cool theres a program about skunk on tv hur hur” and i would imagin a fair few older smokers as well.

hmm seems very informative atm ..going into the history of canabis

oh no there blaming the ravers *grumbles

Completely agree. Cannabis fucked my life up for a while, made me well paranoid and i couldn’t relate or interact with people properly. Am fine now though so i guess it does wear off after a while. been doing alot more heavier drugs than cannabis since and haven’t had the same effects such as paranoia etc so for me that shows cannabis is dirt. :laugh_at:

hmm that was a really good informative and acurate portrail of canabis i think … enjoyed watching that more than i ever did smoking it :laugh_at: (well mby not when i first started)

people are incredibly ignorant about the mental health affects of cannabis.
thousands of dickheads all of the net defending the shit to their grave.
