Cannabis March Confirmed for this Sunday
– CANNABIS EDUCATION & RESEARCH TRUST –
May 2005 PRESS/PUBLIC RELEASE
CANNABIS EDUCATION MARCH & RALLY, LONDON SUN 15 MAY 2005
Assembles 1pm at Montague Street, RUSSELL SQUARE, LONDON, WC1 for ‘cannabis carnival’ style march, departs 2pm through central London to rally, TRAFALGAR SQUARE, 3-7pm, with speakers & information stalls.
A national ‘Cannabis Education March & Rally’ is now CONFIRMED for central London on Sunday May 15th. This is an ‘emergency’ cannabis event, organised as a response to new cannabis health concerns, as well as recent calls to return cannabis to being a ‘Class B’ drug offence, which means a return to jailing people simply for possession.
The ‘Cannabis Education March’ is also part of an annual global cannabis campaign with marches this May 2005 in over 150 cities worldwide. The event in London has been organised to fill the gap in Britain after the cancellation of the annual Cannabis March and Festival in Brixton.
The central London event, right after the general election, is being backed by what organisers say is the largest ‘united front’ against the prohibition of cannabis ever assembled in Britain.
“How safe is cannabis? How dangerous is cannabis prohibition?” is the main theme of the event. Aiming to promote a greater understanding of cannabis and cannabis prohibition, it comes after new health concerns.
A route for the march has been agreed with Scotland Yard and the use of Trafalgar Square for a ‘Cannabis Education Rally’ has been approved by the GLA.
The march route passes the British Museum where marchers will leave ‘cannabis prohibition’ in a box for storage. They also pass the TUC Headquarters where a delegation from the ‘National Union of Cannabis Users’ will deliver a motion calling for solidarity against testing for cannabis at work, and for the use of medical cannabis in the NHS.
Speakers confirmed include George Melly, Caroline Coon, Peter Tatchell, Patricia Tabram (Cannabis Grandma), Roger Warren-Evans (Liberty barrister), plus Howard Marks (Mr Nice) calling live from Moscow, (full updated speakers listing on website).
Other speakers include experts on ‘skunk’ and medical cannabis, plus cannabis dealers, growers and campaigners. The nutritional, environmental and industrial uses of hemp will be covered, along with cannabis and mental health, and the science of cannabis. Also invited are political and spiritual representatives, plus individuals from many walks of life.
Issues to be covered include the real cost of prohibition, drug testing at work and school, driving under the influence, the dangers of ‘soap bar’ (adulterated cannabis), and sniffer dogs.
Political speakers invited include representatives from all the main parties, plus the Legalise Cannabis Alliance which had 18 candidates standing in 21 constituencies in the general election.
Musicians, comedians, poets and artists will all be represented and there will be information areas covering the medical and recreational uses of cannabis, as well as the nutritional and industrial uses of hemp.
“Cannabis prohibition is the most expensive mistake in British legal history” said an organiser; “Prohibition puts public health in far more danger than any amount of cannabis use that might occur if it was legal. Fears that consumption would rise are unfounded, as almost everyone who wants to use cannabis is already doing so, while many people who try cannabis do not like it.”
“Everyone wants a healthier and safer society, so when it comes to issues like cannabis, despite seemingly vast ‘pro’ and ‘anti’ legalisation divisions, most people are actually on the same side; they just can’t agree on how to get there. The way out is to approach the issue in an educated and practical way.

a friend of mine was recently coming home from a trip to Amsterdam
he got stopped and searched at customs and a tiny amount of skunk was found in his tobacco pouch that he didn’t know was there
they took it away for analysis and found traces of heroin in the bud
he’s never knowingly tried heroin…
could this be a cynical ploy by growers / sellers to get their customers ‘smoking more regularly’?
anyone heard of any similar situations?
Could just be a scare tactic??? Can’t see the point in putting relatively expensive H on weed. Doesn’t make it any heavier or smoke any better.
i don’t think customs would make that up
if it came to court the analysis would have to be used in court and making a false claim re: possesion of H would be purgery on the part of the customs officers
this was weed bought over the counter in the dam
Maybe it was one of the darker coffee shops an they want their customers to come back.
well i know when making hash in bars sumtimes its cut with the left overs from producing gear and there is a possibly of contamination like when things that dont contain nuts give you warning they might have traces because they were made in a factory with nuts. this sounds like the most likly explanation to me. also if they wanted the customers to return im sure they could spike it with sometthing like pure caffiene might be cheaper.
“I know I’ll get my customers hooked on smack and when they figure it out they won’t come and kill me :crazy_fre Thats a great idea”
seriously think it through if you found out your weed dealer had sneakily given you a smack habit what would you do?
two options, grass the vcunt up or go round and kill him, why would anyone cut a spliff with H? do you really think people will find oout they have a habit and then choose to be a customer?
a coffee shop was it with tourists being the main trade even better lets just cut weed (£20 a g with Heroin £30-80 a g) it’ll be great for business.
I once had some weed that a dealer had cut with opium after the buyer had sent it back but she was out for a day and missed her flight (taught her to complain about the quality) but its simply not going to happen otherwise.
same as the bollocks about H in E never ever happened, Last year I met a couroner who specialises in drug related deaths and a copper who oversee’s all drug testing (seized gear) in the UK at a drug conference and both said that cutting does not happen, people do not mess with their customers.
Yeh I read this on SJ as well an I reckon it is most likely to be just the piss poor preliminary testing. I mean a friend of mine got done with 2cb an the police couldnt figure out what it was even after two seperate sets of tests.
i know it sounds like a stupid thing to do (cut weed with H) but crap hash gets cut with tranquilizers, even K
I have been at a dark house party before and watched a guy skin up with H and madman and pass it round to people who thought it was just a spliff
I dunno why
had a friend who had a mild heart attack after smoking hash cut with k…was a bit scary.
i know from personal experience that a low level habit isn’t obvious… restlessness, iritability, sleeplessness, a general draw towards a substance and short term ‘relief’ don’t necessarily make the user think they have a habit.
It’s quite possible to get addicted to a substance such as valium, which can easily be liquified and dropped onto crap soap bar. the user, after scoring from the same dealer for a time develops a dependancy without knowing it. another dealers hash doesn’t relieve the ‘need’.
it’s hard to prove but I KNOW that it happens :omg:
i should have given a little more detail
this wasn’t somewhere like the bulldog, more like a place you might go if you know the city quite well but want to avoid the tourist smoking. my friend (my bro-in-law) isn’t wet behind the ears.
also, he was returning home to Iceland, which is an especially harsh country re: drug law. they fined him quite heavily for 0.02 grams of bud. however, they analysed it closely; the presence of H is unlikely to be something made up or due to slack handling by the authorities; they see very little casual, small-scale smuggling
pardon?
cutting does not happen?
on which planet does cutting not happen?
am i the only one who trips out loads after smoking skunk with other drugs?its really weird i can only smoke hash everytime i smoked skunk (which i have stopped now for the reason!) i couldnt stop twitching for about 3 hours and i was tripping out- thats when i use to take xtc and smoke it or on a comedown from speed.has anyone else ever got this?if i smoke skunk on its own i twitch slightly aswel unless im drinking with it..is this really uncommen?all of my mates find it weird!
when your muscles get really relaxed, or if you don’t move for a long time, your muscles will sometimes ‘twitch’. i think these spasms are a way of keeping your circulation going
but if you don’t enjoy it, don’t do it
everybody reacts differently to different drugs. don’t feel pressured to smoke skunk just because your friends find it ‘wierd’
